Look out, I just made SRC Dungeon better than SRW UX.

(Fuck, no one made a Hunting Horror sprite so transforming into that form is going to have an awkward empty tile)

(I think 3/4 of the units I'm implementing are SS sized because... well, SRC Dungeon itself does a pretty good job of implementing just about every robot series that has sprites done for it)

If by some miracle I do win, after making a few purchases, and saving a bunch of it, I'm making anime.

Scratch tickets are made for small entertainment. Put a little money in, get scratchy thing. Occasionally, scratchy thing funds the obtaining for more scratchy things.

It's great entertainment value for little actual cost.

Wild Zoids are metallic life-forms, all Zoids are based on Wild Zoids (even if only somewhat).

Planet Zi DID have a race of human-like creatures though, called Ancient Zoidians now. Humanity cross-bred with them, to the point where both races as distinct things are dead except for two people in the original show who were woken up from cryo. It's why so many people have those strange markings on them.

Speaking of, I kind of like the few mecha that have that kind of attack, where they transform into an alternate form as a product of the attack. Optimus Prime has it in his vehicle form, as well.

Usually patching/hacking a VN amounts to "find a way to extract text" "ok now find a way to insert text without japanese spacing" which still in many VNs is a boatload of work, but easily managable. Many VNs use the same engines, so after you hacked one you hacked a bunch of them and you only need translators.

Hacking roms/isos of games is usually much more complicated, especially when it comes to interface hacking and inserting text into multiple kinds of text bosses and situations without fucking shit up.

Find a stage that doesn't end after a certain number of turns (@1 has a LOT of those) and a boss that'll only retreat at an HP threshold or not at all to suicide your battleship on. You can't change pilot assignments around between missions, but it's easy-enough to catch people up. No, really. @1 does not have that really low per-kill cap.

The Getter Robo piloted by a bunch of ninja girls from Getter Robo Daikessen. May helped me learn that it was Getter Rekka for the first form. Interestingly, that particular Getter operates on the "extra mechanic determines strength of attacks" method that we've seen on the EVAs, Magnum Ace, and ZINV's best attack.

Oh, if you just want to use the units, it's actually pretty simple - all it takes is just unzipping the files into the SRC Dungeon directory and starting a new game from the included .eve. I think most people probably have more trouble trying to get SRC running.

Huh, looks like there's already another new update to SRC Dungeon. Only notable things I can point out is some changed effects (I'm assuming attack animations) for Demonbane, and something that looks like Black Getter will be able to change into Shin Getter rather than Getter Dragon from Armageddon, I think. Might have to look into it.

Probably would have to be after I'm done overbloating this save file with my rolls and picture-taking, though. Not sure I want to risk it if it turns out trying to transfer saves between updates causes problems.

I've had the thing force-muted for the past few weeks, since I kind of like to multi-task and I don't feel anything for the music that it comes with.

If anything, I wish there was a complete version that had all the midis that the game says you should have, considering every unit/series you unlock opens up options in a music test menu that you won't even have because the download doesn't come with them (and the files for download themselves are all over the internet instead of in one good place).

I actually really like F90 from what I've seen of it from a few G Generations. Too bad this game doesn't have that one version where it has every pack shoved onto it at once.

It was level based in Daikessen, if the pilot level was too low they couldn't use the finishers. A few mechs in Daikessen had that, though.

Its Limit Breaking Gaogaigars, like in the Sazabi event. Each time you do that, you get another King J-Der.

I was sort of hoping that there was a way to get the fifth one WITHOUT doing that though. Takes a goddamn lot of E-Tickets to build up four fucking extra SR Gaogaigars.

As an aside, you don't even need to do it twice to get the last of J's abilities in this one. He gets those at level 50, same as the non-event SSRs. Maybe they'll release him again later...?

I do believe I have all 3 Psybusters now. TV version's the only one whose Psyflash isn't a MAP, plus you have to upgrade for it.

The arrow is a straight free level up for every character you have, even the ones that weren't in the actual battle. The box is a 50% bonus to the RP you received during the level, and I'm not actually sure what the star does so I won't comment on that on the offchance I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Yes, either by convincing them in Plus or killing them in Cross, either way the leader has to be the one to do so.

Yep. Plus Mode you need to convince the unit with the leader, lower HP means higher chance to get him. Cross Mode you have to kill the unit with an attack initiated by the leader, so you can use support attacks.

I kind of said that once. Not that the whole thing was show-accurate, just more accurate than the J/W ones that seem to think the shotgun summoned unholy showers of projectiles with every shot and the monomolecular cutter is some kind of magic chainsaw (it did look like that once, but it was a blade clash with both parties high on lambda drivers)

Still better than when I see people pretend J's were better than Z3. J's Arm Slaves had no animation at all. Just standing still firing weapons and still sprites moving across the screen when the knife's involved. W was a gigantic improvement in that regard.

Its central plot point is that the main cast is trying to find ninjas to pilot their robots, which require ninjas to pilot.

The robots which the main characters are piloting.

On top of that, on their adventure to get off Mars and onto Earth, they encounter a group of people near the Martian North Pole who are clearly ninjas. One of them becomes friends with the MC, and joins their cast. No one points out that they just met fucking ninjas until like the halfway point of the show.

Just for elaboration, there's a bunch of bonuses you can get and it's randomly generated every level, but I think the level up one will always be available.

Arrow Up - Level up
Metal Ingot - +20% extra cash
Square Box - Random Item
Blue Crystal - +50% RP (Robot Points, used to buy items from the Bazaar)
Sword - +1 Kill Count to all units
Star - Random bonus

Sometimes you can randomly get an upgraded version of a clear bonus available with a different icon - for example, a Red Arrow Up gives you +3 levels and a Flaming Sword gives you
+3 to Kill Counts instead

On top of this, there's a group of people on the Elshank who want nothing more than to have the MCs dead. Normally I'd find this really stupid, because the MCs are the ones protecting the ship, but honestly I swear to Christ the amount of times you want to wring Joe's neck out is enough that maybe they just consider it worth it. (One of them defects to the enemy side to get away from him, Joe's that bad a protag and only starts getting somewhat better REALLY late into the show. By that point, the other people on the ship randomly decided not to kill him with no buildup)

Hazard Passha might be fun to watch, if every time he was onscreen didn't make you feel distinctly coated in slime from the guy. He's just unsettling to watch.

Oh, and the show's animated like fucking ass, by the way. There's a section of an episode which I swear to god might have been one of Masami Obari's first works, and it STILL looks completely fucking piss.

And did I mention the show has no ending? It literally just ends on a massive cliffhanger that would appear to lead into a finale that never comes. Now, you might say "but Matt, maybe it was cancelled!", and in some cases you might have a point there... but Tobikage has TWO CLIP SHOW EPISODES AFTER A CLIFFHANGER ENDING. WHAT IN THE NAME OF FUCK.


Mech designs are good, to be sure. That's about the only thing good about the show. Of course, then they don't USE some of those mechs... Bakuryu's combined form is used literally two times.

Also, the twitchiness of the upgrade system really makes me tilt my head and wonder about things, thanks to a few hiccups. 00 Gundam won't upgrade to Quanta unless you make sure it's in Gundam mode instead of Raiser mode, Zeorymer won't become Great Zeorymer until you check its status, presumably because it changes the Masato graphic and data for the pilot after the first upgrade, and Gaiking The Great doesn't become available until you get the Daikuu Maryuu, and I believe the original Gaiking's Face Open upgrade doesn't become available until you have its Daikuu Maryuu either.

Really makes me wonder if I'm still missing something for GaoFighGar and the final Scopedog upgrade, or if the system's just being fiddly because I can't make Gai stay in Star GaoGaiGar mode and can't make Chirico go back down to the RSC Scopedog.
