Godannar was pretty great all around. Hot-Ice Hilda is probably the first character to spring to mind though. She's only in the first few episodes of Outlaw Star, but she makes a big impression, both on me and on the main character. She's an experienced pilot and mercenary who can run her ship solo and fights the Taoist pirates on her own often by the looks of things as well as being rather straight forward about herself, seducing and sleeping with Gene off the bat because she takes a shine to him and wants to help make him a better person as well as pilot. She has a great design and moniker too. She's just all around cool.

The thing about it is just that Japanese artists don't like to draw them that way. In principle, a lot of girl pilots should have a lot more muscle than they do.
