Well, I haven't seen G-Reco, but I know that Quentin Tarantula rates Deathproof as his worst work, but from a "techanical" and storytelling standpoint it's easily arguable as one of, if not, his best.

So I don't know that relying on a creator's word is the best thing to do.

G-Reco was amazing in almost every way, especially its character designs and vibrant art. You know a series is great when the creator himself is humble about it, acting all modest to the other directors who couldn't compete with it. He has confessed to its profound and philosophical writing, as well as his tendency to get the audience fully immersed in the action scenes, but rates the show '15 points out of 100' as a consolation to the others. If the creator is only willing to give something 1.5/10 for sake of his competitors mental wellbeing, then what could you expect from his audience?

G-Reco has many flaws: its characters don't have proper motives, they just do things on a whim that make no sense; the audience is always left confused about what's actually happening; the world-building is impressively detailed on paper, but horrendously convoluted when on screen. It's not even fun to watch, it's just one disappointment after another, especially when you consider this is Tomino's first Gundam series in 15 years.
