What makes something /m/?

Anything mechanical at any point of the series duration
eg Pokemon is /m/ because of that episode where Team Rocket tried to get Pikachu WITH A ROBOT
>>
Scientific, fantastic, or cool.

In reality, anything that doesn't get deleted by janitors/mods. So pretty much everything under the sun nowadays.

This question would be meaningless but for the fact that it reveals that /m/ cannot be so narrowly defined.

What is life?
What is the nature of consciousness?
What is good?
What is /m/?
You will not, and cannot, get a short and satisfying answer. You cannot get an answer at all, for any answer cannot be the answer.

You will only come to know these things through Enlightenment. Seek and you will find.
>>
Litterally anything not deleted by mods
And since we don't have thos
>>

Boards don't have mods, they have janitors. Mods are responsible for all boards, not individual ones. They visit pretty quickly to delete Valvrager a lot of the time, or to delete porn. The problem isn't that there are no mods, it's that the mods don't give two fucks what's posted here most of the time. Which doesn't really bother me personally. If you're going to criticize them though, at least learn how they work.
>>
>>13680639
I see more things that are obviously /m/ get deleted than obvious shit-stirring troll threads getting axed, so the less we're visited, the better. Unless a lot of mod and janitor oversight ensures shitposting is kept to a minimum (which is impossible) it's not worth the hassle of legitimate stuff disappearing or people getting banned for a week because there was a nipple in something.

Being from Japan is a major point of what is /m/
>>
>>13680591
if its toted as sci fi or fantasy with mechanical elements like machines or robotics. this is pretty broad, so lets just say that a theme of change, with man vs man or man vs monster happening. you don't see man vs nature in /m/ as much because /m/echa is so much more overpowered compared to tornados and hurricanes.
>>
>>13680591
Machines and fiction dealing with how they affect people.
>>
>>13680782
Science-fiction, with an emphasis on the mechanical. That can include material from a verity of sources such as anime and manga, but also include things like video games, tokusatsu, novels, film, and western television.

I think I have a fairly broad view of what I'm willing to call /m/, but honestly, I'd rather discuss these things here than on shittier boards like /a/, /v/, or /tv/.
>>
>>13680829
>implying /m/ isnt all of them at once and much worse
>>
>>13680829

What about seasons of Sentai, where the 'mecha' are actually magical animals that just transform to look like robots? Or are actually just humans that magically transform to look like giant robots in order to fight monsters?
>>
>>13680867
I think that, and then I actually go to those boards.
>>
>>13681658
Ask yourself one question:

>Does it look like a robot?

If yes, it's /m/.
>>
>>13680597
>that episode where Team Rocket tried to get Pikachu WITH A ROBOT

That's pretty much every episode for most of the show, to be fair.

>>13681658
If they transform to look like robots, they might actually become robots in the process, you know.
>>
>>13680591
if it's about mecha you retards
like wtf is this question
>>
>>13680591
literally anything. no moderation has turned this board to shit
