Is it acceptable to paint your kits a bit after you finish assembling them? I'm going to start up gunpla after the holidays and I want to build guys I like first, but the problem is that I am not confident enough to paint yet.

Since you're not using paint, I'm going out on a limb and assuming you're not using glue either. If you read the guide, you'd know that prebuilding to understand how a kit goes together and then breaking it back down to paint is highly recommended.

I'm planning on making an HG humming bird. What kits could I bash in order to get the huge thrusters and stuff? My first thought was the S and Ex-S for thrusters/hyper beam saber tube things. The hardes part for me will be the giant leg boosters. I can't quite think of something that would work for that.

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.

You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.

In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

I didn't have an issue with the batteries, got them at walmart. The problem is that a lot of different brands use different labels for the same battery. The packages usually list some common labels that they're compatible with. For example, the Duracells I bought for this kit are marked on the front as a 301/386 but list the SR43 as compatible, and the SR43 is the exact same thing as the LR43 that the manual calls for.

The 42 is a slightly different size, so it wouldn't work. I'd just go to department stores, look at what they have in the electronics department, and if you don't find it, check the jewellery department on the way out. They sell batteries for watches.

Started on the MG Sword Calamity Resin from Neograde.

Not a single part seems to fit, I've literally had to remodel the MG Freedom parts and cut stuff off of them to be able to fit it in the resit kit armor.

Airbrushing allows for uniform, clean, crisp paint jobs. I've heard some people hand paint their models, and some are really good, but it takes lots of skill and practice. You can do a lot of the same shit, but airbrushing is just generally less time consuming, more efficient, and neater.

Test rig on one leg done, works a bloody treat.
Will probably be adding another module to the thigh, but really pleased with everything else.
This is 6 neopixel rgb LEDs running the test cycle via an arduino pro mini, powered by USB atm.
Now to duplicate the whole thing for the other leg.

The fact that no TV-show post Build Fighters has gotten an MG or the fact that AGE bombed so hard it didn't get a full compliment of it's main suits is a bit worrying, but I can't understand this whole "MG is dead" line that's getting repeated here. Sure there are more P-bandai ones but that holds true for 1/144 as well. 6 new MGs a year seems healthy enough and not prone to over saturation, but I have only followed the release schedule since last November so perhaps I don't understand enough of the history.

I just finished my first model and it's pretty cool

Some nubs are hard to cut off like on the shield and shoulder. Sanding is a good option ive heard but is there a way I could ruin anything by sanding improperly?

I have no clue how to panel line properly so following the guide hopefully won't steer me wrong

And I kinda messed up the decal on the head how do I remove it and place on the extra one? Would nail polish remover be too strong?

Unless you're sanding something you think is a nub but actually isn't it isn't all that easy to mess up on sanding.
Panel lining is also really easy since if you go off line you can wipe it away with a finger or a Q-tip. I don't quite recall the best method for the decal, but I'm pretty sure it's not nail polish remover as I think that can melt plastic.

Unicorn kits are easy to mass produce. Between Unicorn, Banshee, Banshee Norn, and Phenex there's only a handful of different parts they'd have to make. Everything else is just the same mold in different colors. Probably one of the reasons why there's so many Zaku kits. Even if they don't sell like crazy Bandai wouldn't be losing that much money.
