Anyone here into the Yamato 2199 modelling?
I know non japanese usually are turned off with series who are glorifying old japanese imperial navy. However, Yamato 2199 has a potential with interesting space warship models
One of the critics from old yamato fans is that they made terran warships too barren in yamato 2199.

Not on 2199 model but i actualy works on a diorama of the 33 ship (80cmX80cm) from the mecha coll of the original serie and on the Yamato from the 2520 serie.
the mecha coll kit from 70's are very fragile and not snap at all. prepare the glue and the twizzer for the assembly and think well before painting.
i also project to get the Yamato 2199 1/500 kit for a custom.

I stick with 1/1000, because it is the scale of the "Yamato 2199" HG series. Combined with Garmilas warships, it gives the scale different between destroyers, cruisers and battleships

I really want to get a 1/1000 kit but if i buy one im gonna need to buy all the serie and i don't have enough space for that (or money). maybe the "Domelaze the 3rd" because he can be a really interesting custom project (and because i really like big kit)

On the other hand, 1/500 is bigger than 1/1000, also only has Yamato model.
1/1000 Domellers look good like Star Wars Imperial Destroyer, but in my opinion is illogical design, Garmillas battleships have more turrets and weapons than Domellers.
On the plus side, Domellers have ample space for LED lighting modules

> yamato 1/500 this is because the serie just have one modele i want to get it.
> Domellers 1/1000 plenty of surface for customisation and space for led. very cool challenge for me. maybe the biggest project i have.
There is one thing that intrigue me, Hobby Japan always shows off the LED control with a PIC board. Has this unit ever sold to the mass market?
>>13647928
Nope its has never been sold by bandai actually. Each led unit i see is a custom work. Even with the 1/500 Yamato.

Apparently, one of the favourite of Hobby Japan's PIC is PIC 12F675. The IC is cheap, the language is simple, the circuit is simple and the compiler is free. The only drawback is to buy a programmer board connected to the PC's USB which may cost you 20 to 99 USD.

Including light in my models is one of my new years goal. But can't understand a thing. I need to learn. Any link ?
>>13647429
This fucking thing... It was massive and then all it had were the 3 tiny cannons.

If you are familiar with soldering and basic wiring (i.e: lamp to battery or IC's pin), it should be okay.
Just google for PIC LED or PIC LED Programming. You will be surprised with the amount of free materials.
Please note, if you are a Gundam modeller, it will be difficult to find a space inside the model, but it is fairly easy for spaceship or vehicle models.

Thank you. i can begin to make some test this week.
I don't plan to light up so much my Gundam under 1/100.

Yes, the design is illogical, that's what I said.
On its defence: it has a lot missile launchers and torpedo bays. Similarly, Star wars destroyers have the same design, large ships with only laser turrets.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to put LED + control module inside a Gundam 1/144 model. The most common way people do is to put LED in the models and then wire-out the cables from the model.

Any idea on how to make him more "logical" for a custom ? I really want to make a good project any help is welcome.

In Yamato 2199, it is a command ship, designed to be very large by arrogant Garmillas.
Adding more turrets should be a natural approach, but this will destroy the original design.
Another way is to put a wave gun in front of the ship. Or add fighter landing bays on the bottom layers
Has Yamato 2199 been completely translated yet?

I count no less than 9 definite turrets, with a couple maybes.
