Outside of the one-shot ones in IM3 they all look the fucking same and interchangeable to me.
You could show me one of the older suits and claim it's a new one and I'd believe you.

Looks like a direct upgrade to Mark 45. I loved that suit, but I was bummed it didn't get to do much. Hopefully 46 gets so show off more.

Pretty much this. In fact, it looks more like the Figuarts version of the 45 then anything else. I do however appreciate the added sleekness.

Seems like there hasn't been an actual upgrade since the Mark 7 with it's missile packs and recharging lasers.

Everything since has been just changing up the outer frame slightly, or random gimmicks that have little actual use.

I personally fucking LOVE the new suits, but then again, heroic age Iron Man and War Machine are my favorite iterations of them and the new suits seem to be emulating that era.

Have you not watched the movies? Stark just loves building stuff. He doesn't really do it for any particular reason a lot of the time, but just because he enjoys it. He does it in 3 for character reasons too, in that he's burying himself in building loads of super specialized suits to run away from the fear of failing the world and not being a real hero, but even without that he's just a tinkerer by nature.

Not necessarily true. 7 was an armor built specifically with protracted assault in mind. 8-42 were built as either proof-of-concept specialization suits or improvements on previous versions of said suits. Silver Centurion was built with close combat in mind, hence the quicker repulsors, vibranium claws, and shield generator (which we never get to see in action, unfortunately) and pulse cannons to compensate for the lack of ranged weaponry. Mark 42 had an enhanced neural interface that not only allowed for more precise control of the suit, but also allowed the suit to operate independently from Stark Mark 43 was a combat ready version of Mark 42. Mark 44 beat the Hulk. Mark 45 could fire dozens of repulsor blasts consecutively without charging, and each individual blast is supposedly stronger than previous versions (supposedly it incorporated concepts used in the Silver Centurion.) Mark 46 has maneuvering thrusters throughout the entire body, which enables for precice steering without having to stop aiming any arm based weapons repulsors at a target, and likely some other gimmicks we haven't seen yet.

They just don't seem like improvements because to the viewer, Stark's still doing things mostly the way he always has with varying levels of efficiency.

I love Adi, and I wish he'd illustrate another Iron Man comic, but the concept artists behind the MCU are fucking god-tier Adi included, but he's far from the best.

They should just take the Extremis virus from IM3, rework it a bit, and turn it into Bleeding Edge Armor

Every suit up till MK7 was a straight out better upgrade. Iron Man 3 massive pile of suits were kind of crap but thats the point because he went crazy and was building them just to silence his inner demons and he only needed them because his actually good suits were all blown up with his house.

MK 43 was needed because all his suits were destroyed after IM3 and 44 was the Hulkbuster which speaks for itself. Mk 45 is the first one that really had no reason for being used, when the 43 was just as good and not destroyed. Same with the new one here. It has more lights and a folding back helmet. That's all.
