V barely edges out F91 (4.5 G vs 4.44 G) and while there's no listed acceleration for Unicorn that I know if it's an Early UC design so it's probably safe to assume it's slower.

V was the first to use Minovsky Flight so it's definitely faster (especially in the atmosphere), but stronger? The entire design concept of the Unicorn was absurdly overpowered weapons, far beyond the point of any practicality. Meanwhile Victory just has, uh, some regular weapons? Thing was mass produced for a reason.

Though now that I think about it, having VSBRs would technically bring the V over the Unicorn.

The manuals only refer to those as Beam Cannons, so even though they look like the F91's VSBRs they're not. Probably just a substitute for the Dash's Overhang Cannons so they didn't have to make a Core Booster for every V.

But the V and the V2 have identical hardpoints, so there's technically nothing stopping the V from just slapping on the V2A's confirmed-to-be-VSBRs and calling it a day.

The V-type Gundam isn't strong in itself. It's supposed to be a mass-produced MS, and it was. You can see early on in the show just how easily it breaks and loses parts, before Uso got good.
In the show, the V Gundam became so effective, only because it had Uso piloting the main suit, and he's most likely the best UC pilot. It's faster than the others, I can give you that, but again, that's only because of technological advances.

Put the standard V-type in the hands of anyone but Uso and pit them against the F91 or Unicorn, they'd lose. At least that's how I see it.

higher weight to thrust means lower G.

basically take 1 tonne of mass and and 1 tonne of thrust. if you add mass you accelerate slower, if you add thrust you accelerate faster. same is try for decreasing thrust and mass, respectively.

the FA unicorn, while increasing thrust by about 30% also increases mass by nearly 50% thus lowering the thrust to weight ratio.

Just a guess, but probably right behind the cockpit. Between the cockpit and the thrusters, that's where the minovsky reactors usually are, and it makes sense that you'd want the drive near the reactor and in the part of the ms that isn't disposable (the core fighter).
