The foreman's authorized the use of any mobile suit that's operable to defend the facility.
Most of them are still in there stock colors so no need to watch the paint job.

Build and paint up anything mecha that looks like it just rolled off the factory floor.

It literally doesn't matter what people do, it's just a unifying idea that people can incorporate into their future builds if they want. It's what you guys voted for and if you're not happy with it then don't participate. If everyone wanted their own ideas then there's no point in a group build and it's just like normal around here.
In the end people will build with as much effort or as little effort as they want. There was an old /toy/ group build with the Titans theme and some fuck just submitted a stock RG Mk II. It's all for fun anyway

Early Christmas present to myself, my $4 nippers I bought last year are like safety scissors now but these new ones seem pretty good for $10.

Is it a common thing to "rebuild" kits you've previously completed? Like, I don't do any painting now because I don't have the money for an airbrush and I'm scared of ruining a kit I like with shitty paint, but what if I got an airbrush in a year from now and painted the Hizack? Would it still be like I had painted it directly out of the box if I washed it off and took it apart for painting?

Reporting from /toy/. Mind helping me figure something out guys? I have my airbrush on standby to test spray.

I was testing with water only but even when merely holding the trigger down it spray slight amounts of water, not just air like it should. Would any of you know why? I watched some vids on assembly and am sure I followed them correctly.

Assembled, made sure to push the needle in until I got to the stopping point where it feels like you shouldn't push more. Also checked the nozzle, no paint or anything in it. Needle was clean without paint or other contaminants on it. Same problem.

See this is infuriating

A two piece split interior "skull" thing where you need to paint the black and monoeye, and then the outside of the helmet, which also has bars from top to bottom, preventing masking as easily, is also split down the middle

So the best way to do it is paint the entire inner part black/pink for the eye, tape it up, then build the rest of the head around it, weld it, fully paint it while doing the kit and then remove the tape on the inner part

I just got here but I don't think the cap could even be the problem, if anything it's the way the needle is seating in the nozzle, because when you let the air go with your figer down something is allowing the water to escape from the needle/nozzle point

Can you try for a closeup of the nozzle and the needle end together? Basically hold the needle straight up and rest the nozzle on top of it, don't push down at all just gravity

I'm still not quite sure what's wrong judging from the pictures and I'm pretty sure the only way we'll figure it out is if you post a webm or something of the problem. Only things I can think of is that either the nozzle and needle aren't creating a seal at the tip or that the nozzle isn't seated into the main body properly.
Correct me if I'm wrong but these are the only problems that you can actually fix and otherwise you're better off returning it and getting another.

Well, I don't know how to make webm files, and beyond that I would need to simultaneously airbrush and record while keeping quality in fairly poor lighting in my garage. Any opinions? I moved the needle up to the point where it feels like you should stop. I wouldn't want to break it by pushing it past there. The needle/nozzle seem to be an issue according to anons in here, but I can't exactly know at this point.

Dammit anon I was one of the guys helping you this whole time; I've only had it for about 5 months though but I've never run into the issue of it leaking paint. I can confirm that there is no gasket/o-ring anywhere at the tip (only one is towards the rear where the handle screws onto the body).
Have you used it before with any problems or did you just notice this?
I'm taking a break from priming so ignore all the crap on the airbrush but this is about how far the needle should come out of the nozzle.

Well I attempted spraying thinned paint before, only once. The paint went into the back of the airbrush. Had to clean it a ton, not a fun experience.

I just called the Badger support line. I got to talk to Ken Badger, the head of the company! Got his mail too, he says likely if paint went into the back it's not my fault and the airbrush was broken to begin with. Guess I'll mail it back to them.

Anyone have the old HG Zeta? I'm having a hard time getting the the middle piece of the backpack to stay up properly. It was able too before, but it was sort of loose, and the connector to the back itself also comes off reeeeeeally easily. Is there any solution to this that doesn't involve plastic cement so it stays in place? I won't be bothering to transform it, or anything.

This project has turned out eh overall. I went with a glossy black and a gloss topcoat, it looks sort of eh. I've been using spraycans and my masking ability is also sort of weak. So how many of the people here complaining actually know anything about Rollout Colors? You're not restricted to gray, that's just something Bandai did for the Exia because they felt like it.

The build could have been named "paint your kit up with a more subdued color scheme", because that's the whole point. There are all sorts of designs that could benefit from not being 3+ colors (hey there literally everything in SRW), so spend less time bitching and more time thinking.

Regardless, you're missing the opportunity in it. Most 'factory roll out' colors are monotone, yes, but not just 'everything is white'. It's more like Phase Shift Down colors - there's different tones placed where they are for a reason.

Think of it like this - you're on a cooking show, the challenge is to make macaroni and cheese. It's a plain ass dish anyone -can- do, but to make it shine or stand out at a gourmet level, you have to show off in more fundamental ways.

The basic idea is that it's fresh off the assembly lines, but it's called Rollout /Colors/ instead of Ver. Just Rolled Out or whatever for a reason. It's ultimately just an alternate color scheme.

If you want to do it without decals to stay more true to the concept, more power to you! If you don't, then that's also fine!

My thoughts on the group build fiasco is that I already like kits with subdued colors, but I dont want to make one that way with some story that it's unfinished. I also just don't feel there's enough creative range with the theme to justify a lot of time investment for it, like there's no room for extra equipment designs. I'm fine that it's the theme and clearly people voted for it, certainly not anon who's running it's fault, just why I don't think I will do a kit for it personally.

My take on the concept was that it could either be a grunt suit in your bog-standard production facility or some sort of new prototype that's untested that's been found before it could be completed. Honestly it just depends on how much thought you put into it

One way imo to make the group build better is instead of just straight off the assembly line, nearly straight off the assembly line. By that i mean like its missing some parts of a limb or two or something similar. Really at this point its the only sort of thing to make it not incredibly boring.

The other issue I have is the Clanche waist unit eliminates pretty much all forward and backwards leg movement on the Heavybecause the thigh armor goes up too high. Group Build organizer anon here, since there's a bit of a debacle surrounding the concept of the "factory roll-out" build I decided to change it in an attempt to foster a bit more creativity. To keep the idea of a mobile suit/mecha that is incomplete or otherwise not fully operational, the theme has been changed to:

Field Repair

Basically what this means is that rather than the mobile suit being fresh out of a factory, it's quite the opposite. Whether it's trudging through dense jungles or dodging debris in asteroid belts, your mobile suit has seen some better days.
You've been out in the field for quite a long time now, nearly half a year of active duty in the front lines and your personal mobile suit's pretty banged up. What's worse is the fact that there isn't a maintenance bay within several thousand kilometers of your local area that's capable of making any major repairs. Your unit's engineering crew has resorted to patch work and jury-rigging to keep your machine operational. Stray fire might have crippled its legs and arms or otherwise dealt considerable damage to a mobile suit's systems meanwhile some units have simply lost bits of armor and panels to the elements and have been forced to patch weld metal sheets over the exposed inner workings.
In any case it's beaten to hell but somehow you and your team have somehow kept it chugging along and now command's ordered all units operating in your theatre to fall back to form a defensive line against the enemy offensive.

The idea behind it is that the crew somehow manages to actually partially fix the damage. So if you say lose an arm, then the engineers slap on a minigun to the stump to make up for it. A good example would be the Kshatriya repair with the gatling pegleg and repurposed binders.

I bought the Schwalbe Graze, I fucking love it. Articulation is pretty awesome all around with that basic inner frame. Movement on the rear thrusters is really excellent. Only thing that kind-of wants to fall off is the axe. The head gimmick is pretty solid and the use of seals is really well done.

If the No Grade turns out well, I might pick it up just to have a bigger version.

I've got the Special Set. I think it's the best you can get right now. Comes with option parts for unit 1, 2 and 3, flashing lights and a nice gloss coating. It's still a pretty old and shitty MG though. It's definitely been one of the more frustrating kits to build. But if you're into Patlabor you don't have much of an option in Gunpla form except that weird Next Generation kit, which is good, but has some weird issues with the internal frame on the arms and some of the old no grade stuff.

A little follow up the MG Ingram - I'm looking at my straight build right now and if you're looking into buying it make sure you've got some paint lying around. You need clear blue, and clear green for the visor and camera (they come clear), some gray for touch ups and the fin on it's head. I also recommend some clear orange for the head lights on the waist, they give you pretty nice stickers for them, but if you have to paint already you might as well. Also all the decals are crappy water slides. Like the decal on the back of mine just came off one day and vanished, no idea why or how. It's never happened on any of my other kits.

Some of those (shoulders, chest) have no connection poet for those new parts on the base kit, so it will most likely require new parts. Some of the parts don't look like they come with the gusion either. You probably won't be able to just swap parts from the hg gusion onto hg barbatos.
