I only just now realised that the Spectre and Ghost eyecons weren't included in the required 15. I got quite the shock when Takeru transformed after losing his eyecons. Have I just not been paying attention or was that not specified?

They are. The Sage straight up says in the firs episode that Ore is Takeru's soul. The only difference between Takeru and Makoto is that Makoto is still alive.

It's clear that he and Yurusen have ulterior motives to Takeru gathering the Eyecons. Takeru is an unwitting agent to the Sage as Makoto is/was to Aran. We actually have quite a few factions gunning for the Eyecons for different reasons.

I'm going to take a wild guess and say Aran's brother is Necrom.

How is it more like that? Soul Gem makes more sense, since he can recover indefinitely as long as (presumably) Ore isn't gone, and it's the source of his powers after he made a contract with a greater power that is clearly using him. And like Souju, he can use ones apart from his own to change to different powersets based on someone else's life and soul.

Specter has all he needs really. He has his close range powerhouse (Tutankhamen), his long range gunner (Nobunaga) his special "when the budget allows" form (Houdini) and his standard jack of all trades (Specter).

The Sage dances around every question that's thrown at him. When the team needs him, he's either not there or acting like a fool. He shows up when he wants and does and says what he wants.

Don't forget that Akari is turning out to have a bigger heart than expected from a character archetype like hers.

Over-Time's image for this episode is becoming more relevant for the show's main cast as a whole in relation to Takeru and Makoto rather than just Javel.

I am even becoming more interested in Dr. Dentalphobe's secret evil plot than Takeru and Makoto's plights.
