No. The only reason people like it is because they were teenagers when they watched it or have terminally shit taste.

If it was some stupid but action-packed and fast paced show I'd understand and might like it myself, but it's not. It's really boring. 0079 is faster paced, and there's this bizarre totally serious yet completely ridiculous tone and the show thinks it's way cooler than it actually is.

And the world itself is really bizarre. Like there's schools and military bases but I can't imagine people actually living normal lives in the Wing universe. Heero goes to school for no reason and one of the boys lives in the circus and another lives in the desert with some weird turks who do everything he says, but all of them can be at some random airfield to shoot Leos within five minutes of each other. And the 5 Gundams get sent to Earth simultaneously but apparently they aren't working together or are aware of each other's existence initially?

All the characters are kind of weird, especially the psychopath main character but Duos a normal guy I guess. And all the Gundams are leftover G Gundam designs but now it's super serious. The music's okay I guess.

There's no rhyme or reason to anything. I really don't understand how Wing came to be. It is honestly the most bizarre Gundam series there is.

Around here? Probably. Wing obviously has many failings, but it really was an enjoyable piece of slop with a few good ideas. (Like Treize, or the Zero System.) If the show had a different name, say Code Geass, it would probably be remembered as a lovable train wreck; instead it's mostly just known for being a very mediocre UC retelling with a boyband cast.

But outside very insular mecha fan communities? Oh God no. The only time people who aren't hardcore UC fanboys even acknowledge the idea of Gundam are the sort of idiots who populate /v/ and /co/ and think the shows that ran on Toonami were the only good shows ever. Tell me if you've ever had this conversation: you offhandly mention to an acquaintance that you like building Gundam model kits. Then they go "Gundam? I remember Gundam. Gundam Wing was the shit."

And then you're like, "Well actually I like--"

"Man, the Wing Zero. Those angel wings man. I fapped to those in 7th grade."

And that's ignoring the sizable group of twentysomething fangirls who still gather at cons in greater numbers than any other Gundam panel who remember it fondly as their gateway drug to Yaoi.

The good aspects of Zeta are among the most ambitious not only among mecha, but among anime in general. Zeta maybe had flaws but also had A LOT of political symbolism to make up for it making it a show worth rewatching. Wing was an attempt at representing teenage angst as something more than teenage angst.

"Good ideas but with many obvious failings" basically describes 2/3s of Tomino's own work though. Wing's not falling that far from the tree.

The 5 Scientist had a date they were going to do things on but worked independently after designing Zero. They were all surprised the others went through with the plan when they meet up again.
Did you ever pay attention? They all get missions delivered to them by the scientists. Some of those missions overlap because they are just attacking military bases like Quatre and Trowa in episode 3.

I'm 99% certain that he's trying to warn her off to keep her from getting killed. His wording is autistic though, and there's no in-universe reason for him to use such diction. He was really lenient with letting her live to begin with; he could have taken her out at the beach instead of brushing past her. So this is his high-octane autist way of telling her not to keep nosing around him. Probably trying to scare her off, too. Eh, it's a convoluted character reading, but it handily reconciles why he would bother to brush that tear off in the first place. "I don't want your sympathy or compassion, please don't waste your tears on me, and oh if I see you too often you will probably have to die. Please stop trying to get to know me better, I'm bad news."

Of course, such an obsessive analysis shouldn't be required for a show marketed to children. Gundam Wing is a hell of a drug.

Victory has a reputation of being weird but I think it's pretty normal in context.It's my favorite uc by far. X is definitely one of the more underrated aus. I think people didn't like it because it started slow. Lack of popularity and early cancellation certainly doesn't make it any more accessible at this point. I love the daughtress line, bertigo, and the rasveht.

It is very enjoyable. The cast is awful. But the plot makes up for that ( which is probably the best non-uc plot we've gotten) the music is great, the enemy mechs are great, Treize and Zechs are great, and it is cheesy fun.

But seriously the shit the characters say and do is so ridiculous it's unbelievable. I still enjoy it anyways.
