are these traditional texan delicacies?
>>
>>13578738
>beer
Traditional anywhere outside of Texas. The Texas Colony was, in fact, made originally for tourists.
>hot dog
Very traditional Texan delicacy. Normally eaten with ketchup to piss off non-Texans.
>>
>>13578766
Wait, there are people who hate ketchup on hot dogs? I'm from California and have taken to eating them with mustard lately but what's wrong with ketchup?
>>
>>13578783
I'm not from the US, but I eat my Hot Dog with both ketchup AND mustard.

I-is that weird?
>>
>>13578783
>>13578789

From USA and I always put ketchup and mustard on a hotdog. That "no ketchup on a hot dog" is just something for people from NY and Chicago to say to make themselves feel special.
>>
>>13578783
Food elitists and /ck/ have a hate boner for ketchup for some reason.
>>
>>13578850
Fucking idiots then.
>>
>>13578796
And even then, hotdog vendors in New York always offer ketchup before mustard or relish.
>>
>>13578789

Ketchup is a pleb condiment
>>
>>13578796
What is it about NY and Chicago that makes their residents so obsessive over how their city does certain food items the best and everyone else does it wrong?
>>
I'm not that into ketchup on hot dogs.
at Costco I put brown or yellow mustard, relish, kraut, and onions on polish sausage
at home I'll use some other red stuffs, like Cholula or shrirchachaah, but ketchup's just kinda meh to me

I do use some in my meatloaf.
>>
>>13579114
they're trying to justify to themselves living in a literal hell on earth

sriracha
google knew how to spell it
it's sorta like ketchup but with chili peppers
still drowns out whatever it's on so it's not _that_ great

You don't know the sublime pleasure of mashed potatoes on hotdogs.

>>13579114
NY style Pizza is good atleast, but Chigago deep dish "pizza" is a bullshit casserole.
>>
>>13579389
>You don't know the sublime pleasure of mashed potatoes on hotdogs.
not yet, but next time I'm making hot dogs will be a different story
>>
>>13578850
The flavor of ketchup takes over the rest of the food. It's only good for cheap meat, or ruined meat, like hotdogs and well done steak.
>>
>>13579131
With a salad?
>>
>>13578783
Historically people only ate sausages with mustard because tomatoes didn't exist in Europe at the time. These immigrant habits continued in Chicago and New York, to the extent that putting ketchup on a hot dog is considered a sign of plebeian tastes. Supposedly, the sweetness of ketchup makes it too sweet for meat.

>NY Pizza
>Good
Pick one

You seriously expect a piece of cardboard that you have to fold over to even try to eat, which in turn makes it more like a soft shell taco than a pizza to be good pizza, or pizza at all?
>>
>>13579608
Deep dish isn't even pizza.

It's a fucking casserole.

It's tomato soup in a bread bowl.

It's an above grown marinara swimming pool for rats.
>>
>>13579634
One slice of Chicago style is more pizza and more filling than stacking 3 slices of that flimsy pasteboard that has some tomato and cheese on top.
>>
if you aren't inebriated enough to not care about what sort of pizza it is you're doing pizza wrong
>>
>>13579433
Make em a bit richer and use it more like a thick condiment, homemade mashed is fine but instant works a bit better for its smoothness and speed. Goes well with sauerkraut if you like it.
>>
>>13579758
makes sense
sounds sorta like potato pancakes

two fresh JalapeƱos too
>>

You know, when I eat pizza I like to eat it, not drink it.

>>13579790
Pickled are shit.
I really regret not uprooting my jalapeno plants and transferring them indoors before winter rolled in. Once you go fresh, you stay fresh.

At least until you get the pepper plant whose peppers aren't spicy so much as they taste like pain and hurting. We had one like that planted next to one that was bred to be mild and we could never bother to remember which one was which. Learned real fast to scrub down the peppers in water before serving them.
>>
>>13579817
yeah if I'm bothering to buy food specifically for a meal instead of general groceries and winging it I'm usually not doing hot dog type stuff, or it's when Aldi rotates their oktoberfest stuff in and Jalapenos aren't very oktoberfest-y
>>

Actual Texan here.
We have a lot of Germans so beer is common. Shiner fags are the worst.
As for hot dogs, they aren't traditional Texan shit and a burger is preferable 7/10 except at the State Fair, although Funnel Cake and Fried Coca-Cola are more popularized.

Ask me anything.

Big stuff. Basically imagine your normal entree and now imagine it 33% larger.
We're pretty obsessive about our steaks. I'm actually a vegetarian, but I know how to cook a steak.

Also, oil. We're sort of a jack of all trades state. Only things we don't really have are railroads, fishing and mining.
>>
>>13579936
I used to have a good stagnant cart water guy near my nerd hangout and my work. Shit was so cash

I really need to find a place that still wraps their dogs in bologna. Like right now.

There used to be a place in the same shopping center as Tate's Comics that had some really badass hot dogs.
Been ages since I was down there, dunno if they're still there.

It's the only humane way to serve steak. Raw meat is for animals. If someone offers me a rare steak I take it as an insult.
