Zanscare, like Victory in general, had some weird shit, but overall they're both extremely underrated.

Not only did it work perfectly and can also be used as a shield and weapon, but it allows Zanscare mobile suits to fly, which you otherwise need a Minovsky craft to achieve. The only three mobile suits with a Minovsky craft are the Xi Gundam, the Victory Gundam, and the V2.

Kind of amusing that nearly 50 years after the minovsky craft was introduced in Hathaway's Flash it's still not something either side could get any kind of a decent handle on. Two massive governments couldn't reproduce it on a combat scale but a rebel cell could. Especially in a setting where beam weapons became the norm in the space of 6 weeks or something nearly a century before hand and beam shielding had become standard in the space of a few years.

I think it's more because when you pick something expensive like the Minovsky craft for your suit that's gonna drive the costs way up. Plus the feds hadn't updated their suits in twenty years. That'll do a number on your tech level.

Zanscare picked the compromise that is the beam rotor, while the League Militaire went for quality over quantity because their forces aren't as large as the feds.

Oh I know there's in-universe reasons. It just comes off more than a touch odd. I'm not a fan of the overall arc of UC in a lot of ways though because the whole thing just seems to kind of peter out in to nothing, both as a story and as a setting. Which is just disappointing really, even if I suppose that's deliberate on Tomino's part.

The minovsky craft was introduced on in the first gundam, it's what keeps the ships floating. By the time of victory, they've simply been able to miniaturise it enough so it fits inside a mobile suit, and a small one at that. The Xi had it earlier because it's huge.

Bandai don't squeeze, they pump. The distinction is important, because squeezing infers a small and finite source that is quickly bled dry with only drips coming afterwards while pumping infers a much larger, possibly infinite source that just keeps going. Which is definitely true of Bandai. And they can keep pumping so long as fans keep lapping up the shit they're pumping out, no matter how rank it is. The problem isn't Bandai, because they're just responding to the market they're seeing. The problem is the fans. And fans want, or at least keep acting as if they want those kits by buying more of them while not buying kits from shows like Victory, X or whatever other show you want to nominate.

There's no unhearded masses clamoring for Victory kits and being ignored - just a relatively small group that can't be heard over the din of the rest.

They put out the occasional kit from an oddball show like X or Victory. They just start with the Gundams in those shows, because rule of them for them is that Gundams sell better than anything else from a given show (and they're probably right in general on that honestly). So those Gundams have to shift, and shift good numbers before they'd try anything else. That's the reason that the Crossbones keep getting made for one thing, despite being a manga side-story.

Prototype is the MS-04. Worker Zaku is just your usual MS-06 model but with all the weapons replaced with construction equipment and a non-military cockpit design.

The Prototype Gouf (not to be confused with Gouf Test Prototype, which is actually a proto-Dom made out of a Gouf frame) is indeed mostly Zaku... but not blue.

Easy enough to explain. They simplified the design of the good ol' GM compared to the Ground Type both to reduce cost and remove points where it could break thus improving reliability and maintenance cost down the line.

The beam rotor thing was improvised for after the take-over of the federation to recon and suppress civilians. It was cost efficient and cheap. They didn't need them until they had to get around earth fast.

Beam rotors actually don't propel you around or work like a normal rotor. It creates a sort of weak minovsky craft like effect that reduces the ms's weight but doesn't make it fully weightless like a true minovsky craft system. This took strain off the thrusters and made flying easier.

This is also why the ms doesn't fly forward when it moves the rotors in front of it as a shield.
