That's sort of the theme of the story. Humans have hubris and think that they're top dogs. GAIL and their facility represents the top of human ingenuity. They think they can handle anything, and just blunder into alien ruins without any precaution. And it turns out that humans are weak compared to alien races, who can wipe them out without taking any hit.

Reminder that GAIL in the entire show, destroy ONE robot, with a lucky direct shot against one of the robot's neck.

There's no fanservice, most of the characters are pretty basic, & the end kinda peters out.

So why in the hell do I love this show so much? Is it because so much of it is comfotable? Is it because it's so basic & doesn't do what most modern mecha do?

I'm trying to quantify it & I'm coming up with nothing but one word things like ADVENTURE, scuba guys in frog suits, aliens, etc.

I wonder if it's ok to like a show based almost entirely on characters designs & subject matter.

You know, I listened to the OP of this show, thought it was boss. But something happened with my browser, then I lost the song and forgot the show. A YEAR LATER, I was unconciously humming to myself the rhythm and thought to myself "Hey, this sounds familiar, but where?" I think I searched for a good 2 hours in utter agony. Imagine my surprise when I finally found it again. Now it sits comfortably on my playlist.

The problem was Manon was just about to come out his ship and basically conquer the world. GAIL couldn't be counted on for shit, and while Gorg is fucking invincible, he can't tank an entire army. And Yuu is still trying to talk Manon down and stop the fighting, but with a nuke coming down on Austral, you don't have many options. Either let Manon's robots off the island when you leave and doom the world, stay and get nuked to save everybody, or go for a peaceful resolution.

Me and BRO only did the first 8 episodes (he translated, I was just a timer), the rest were done by the Skaro Hunting Society (Nanto and Ametuchi). I guess Nanto preferred the hardsubs. I could ask if he has softsubs, but since discotek is releasing the series officially he doesn't want to nose in on their release.
