Watch the movie version, I found it was less boring, albeit less fleshed out than the OVAs. Also, bluray quality. It's worth a watch just for that.

On-topic, I love 0083. I'd say it's in the top 5 of Gundam.
I really enjoyed the battles, mobile suit designs and Men of Destiny is great.

I liked 0083. It's actually my favorite Gundam series. It's UC without the stupid newtype shit or teenage melodrama or 15yo Gary Stus. Also, the animation is great, it doesn't drag things out for 50 episodes, and it fits perfectly into UC timeline without a bunch of retconning.
