This isn't a 7 thing, this is a "this is literally what the premise of the franchise has always been with minor variation" thing.

Macross Plus made the mistake of making a cool show about transforming jets and non-intrusive musical integration without idols, with great atmosphere that set up an interesting universe. It made me want something better than what Macross is, which is idols, idols, and more idols.
