Now, Helheim is a single, and intelligent, living being who helps species on different planets evolve. Overlords are beings that have evolved because of Helheim, and can control Helheim itself. There's a few though, particularly in how the drivers work.

As for your spoiler, the Overlords may control Helheim on a superficial way, but in the end they don't control the entire thing. It's the same as how Ryoma could tap into its power but not control it.
Kouta ends up being stronger than all overlords and yet not even him can stop Sagara/Helheim. He just lets the overlords use his power but in a controlled way.

They also have a bookstore that sells the magazine the leaked scans come from. The day I took that pic was when I was trying to buy Type Lupin just so an iso can be made. Only one of them, kid from a military family who's half-Japanese and just moved here from Japan where his family lived for the past eight or so years (I've posted about him before, he really loves Sentai). A lot of my students are giant fucking weaboos who try to sneak One Piece volumes when I'm teaching, but I haven't talked about Rider because I know that none of them will have any idea what I'm talking about.

For an in-universe explanation, remember, Kouta was transformed by Earth's forbidden fruit, while Kaito was infected by the Invess from Roshuo's world. It seems like Roshuo's people wasn't completely human-like even before being transformed into monsters, so Kaito ends up with a more monstrous transformation, while Kouta just gets armor and different hair.

Out of universe, really, I haven't seen any interview admitting it, but Gaim's main heroes seem blatantly inspired by SMT's alignment heroes, just with a few twists thrown in to avoid blatant plagiarism. In several of them, the main hero becomes something beyond human, but keeps his human appearance or just gets some minor alteration, like tattoos.

Meanwhile, there's also a "Chaos Hero", that starts usually antagonistic, before being forced to team up with the hero, and turns out to be a good ally... only he keeps complaining about people being oppressed while also talking about how the strong crush the weak then... he usually gets beaten up at some point, goes off the deep end and gets a monster-like form to become one of the last few bosses. Kaito pretty much followed this pattern to the letter, just with the "twist" that he didn't -like- the strong crushing the weak, but thought the world could only work like that, while usually Chaos Heroes by the end embrace that stuff wholeheartedly.

Micchy follows the pattern of the usual Law heroes, although his character ends up more differentiated by the end as far as his actual reasons for fighting go- still, the whole "good friend willing to give anything to protect others who somehow goes off the deep end and sides with genocide and selecting a few "chosen ones" to survive the apocalypse is still there.

It even mimics SMT's structure with the way they're both left for battles near the end.

What's the best relatively modern season of Kamen Rider to start with? Only watched super sentai and looking to get more into tokusatsu.
