I like them a lot.

Please remember to send mails and ask why they simply didn't change the min and max values of the bust slider instead of removing it completely. Regardless you care about the censorship or not, such laziness getting away scot-free means more and more lazy censorship like that will happen. If no ones calls them on about it, the next Xeno on NX may have mecha/parts with Bible whatever related names completly removed instead of simply getting their names changed.

Are these weapons late into the game? Nintendo's use of them in their own video makes them look like, while begin powerful, they are not that important or game breaking.

That's actually a nice idea to maybe you have enough mid-class stuff with the Inferno and the Lailah (and possibly a DLC one) to hold the heavies and the super-weapons for a end-season upgrade.

And then have the Ares "appear" for the final battle.

>And then have the Ares "appear" for the final battle.
The way I see it, I'm inspired by Gundam and the first set of MMPR
Have my pack of 3 (BlaPBLuYR), then let the 4th (G) arrive after the fact with his Skell that is more powerful than the rest. I'll probably give him Lailah since it looks most similar to the Lights. Then, when the first three upgrade to Inferno, Mastema, and Amdusia, 4th can stick with Lailah until Ares shows up, and he gets his upgrade (G>W) The question becomes which show takes precedent at that point. In Gundam, the protag would take the upgrade and leave his previous suit to one of the underlings. In MMPR though, Tommy went from Green with his Dragonzord to White and got his Tigerzord. We'll have to see how that turns out.

Put simply, one of the two alien races that blew up earth in the opening cutscene shows up after a certain point in the game, and that's one of their mechs.

Did you look at the practical strengths of the Amdusias? Its built for melee, has armor to withstand melee, and comes with an e-scythe. Other than the Skell looking like the O, its strengths and weaknesses, seem most like the Deathscythe. Same thing with Mastema being best at ranged damage, and coming with a sniper rifle. I'm not concerned with the quality of the series the Not-grunt is from as much as finding one that best matches the practical in combat strengths and weaknesses of the Skell in the game. The series only comes into play if I've already found a suit from it, because I'd really like to avoid double dipping. In the case of Wing, I make an exception because I pulled Deathscythe first, and am willing to make an exception for Tallgeese for the reason you already seem to know.

Really? One of the first trailers make it sound like it was quite an important clue for a future event. Was it just a reference to Wii's Xenoblade?

Just as a note, they aren't called the Growth in the english version, they're called the Ganglion.

Before you go full autism, a ganglion is a specific type of bodily growth in the form of a cyst, and the way it works is the same way as why Takahashi used the word Growth to describe them as a race.

>>13544280
>Deathscythe and Tallgeese make sense with the Skells I assigned them to.

Tallgeese sure, but not Deathscythe.

DS's whole deal was hiding, it was designed to sneak up on the enemy because it actually wasn't very durable for a Gundam in Wing. Which is why its upgrades emphasized the stealth aspect even more. Amdusias on the other hand is built with overwheling power in mind, to rush through the enemy's defenses and crush them through sheer force, the opposite of Deathscythe. The only thing they really have in common is the weapon.

If anything, Amdusias is more like a mobile armor than any suit.

Yeah but the Growth are called that because that's what they are like, an abnormal bodily growth.

So ganglion would be referring to it as a cyst
>>
Why do the aliens want us dead anyway?
>>
>>13546115

The Growth is an artificial life creation built by an ancient alien race, to be used as slaves and tools. The Growth eventually get out of control, and destroyed this ancient race instead. The ancient race however, leave a safety mechanism in The Growth's DNA, to prevent them from being out of control (which obviously failed). And the safety mechanism is the ancient life's DNA. Humans are probably a far, far child of this alien race, which landed on Earth long, long time ago and created mankind. The Growth fear the safety mechanism hidden in the human DNA, which is why they want to destroy mankind so eagerly.

Except unlike Eva where Anno specifically did it to sound cool, Doll directly ties it into the game's themes in that a machine is seen as just a soulless robotic puppet being moved around, which becomes ironic that humanity refers to it as such when it's revealed that everyone except for Elma, including the player, is nothing but a soulless robotic shell themselves, driven by a copy of the original person in stasis. The Doll being considered a ghost in the machine because someone inside controls it is then compounded because the pilot itself is a ghost in the machine.

Except for Elma, who is an alien

They had no internal combustion systems of their own, relying instead on power transferred from a main generator. They were an all-purpose weapon miniaturized into a small frame. I didn't play the original, is the 3DS version a decent alternative?

More importantly: what's the combat like? I got a vague impression it's one of those games where you run into enemies and you automatically attack without needing to press anything, which I always found a pretty lazy mechanic.
>>
>>13561189
>is the 3DS version a decent alternative?
I hope you have a New 3DS, the model with the second thumbstick and a confusing name.

Because it won't run on other 3DS systems.
>>

Yeah I have the confusingly-named-New 3DS, I don't have many games for it and I've seen /m/ talking about Xenoblade more than enough to capture my interest.

Why didn't you get the original? It runs just fine on a Wii and the Wiimote controls aren't too bad. You can even play it on your new Wii U.

So did he not design Exia or he 00? Also, I haven't seen Awakening of the Trailblazer, but is the multitude of Gundams after the 00 S2 ones in it? I found myself seeing a lot in those that he clearly carried over into his Skell designs.
>>
I'm glad they are a part of the game, but they are bordering on western mecha in terms of how busy the design is. You have to really stare at it to get a sense of what's going on.

From what I have read here and elsewhere from those who have tried both the game is very good and even comes with additional features not found in the original.

The only drawback is the texture resolution were the graphics took a hit. Thankfully the game artistic design still holds up despite of that.

As for the combat I have to say that it can be very entertaining as you can try many combinations in many, many ways be it with gear, arts, characters, gems-slots, strategies and the like and this applies from the beginning all the way to the end game were The Super-bosses will always be a threat you can always test yourself against.

I really mean that last part as, even if theres a general strategy for dealing with them, you can always try a new combination of different teams/skills to take on the challenge.
>>
>>13561189
It's good as long as you don't fixate on the texture downgrade.

Considering the move to a handheld it still looks pretty damn decent, besides it helps a lot that the Wii being low powered encouraged Monolith to focus less on texture porn and more on the shape and look of the game experience, and that outlook still holds on the similarly underpowered (relative to its contemporaries) N3DS.

It's just that you need to acknowledge the elephant in the room and move past it. There will be detail pop, textures will be eh at times, and sometimes I wonder if the color balance is a bit desaturated.

But boy do places like Gaur Plain look fucking amazing. Geography porn transcends texture detail.

Also the autoattack bug is fixed.

So, I don't have a new 3DS or a Wii U, I only have a Wii and the original Xenoblade Chronicles. Is X a sequel, a remake, a reimagining, or what? I'm a bit confused but I don't want to look too deep into it so I don't get spoilers.

Also, I imagine this is all separate from Xenosaga, right?

There are similar themes to Xenogears, Xenosaga and Xenoblade.
Supposedly most of the references (Gnosticism etc.) were removed during localization, since the Treehouse translators did not understand them, found it weird and replaced them by Simple English.

The problem with XCX is the problem with every Takahashi game: he doesn't know how to finish a game narratively.

All of his games START strong and really compelling. Then about 2/3 in he always takes his narrative to the cliff of quality and says "welp, it's not gonna kick itself". Every time, without fail, it happens. You can blame budget and time restraints for gameplay issues and the game having to be all story after a certain point. You CAN'T blame it on the story itself going up its own ass in symbolism at the cost of the characters.

As Harlon Ellison once said

>“The only thing worth writing about is people. People. Human beings. Men and women whose individuality must be created, line by line, insight by insight. If you do not do it, the story is a failure. [...] There is no nobler chore in the universe than holding up the mirror of reality and turning it slightly, so we have a new and different perception of the commonplace, the everyday, the 'normal', the obvious. People are reflected in the glass. The fantasy situation into which you thrust them is the mirror itself. And what we are shown should illuminate and alter our perception of the world around us. Failing that, you have failed totally.”

Yes, worldbuilding makes a setting feel more alive, but nothing accomplishes that more than the people living in that world.
>>
>>13567793

>>
>>13567790
Technically BLADE is more of a reference to Shulk's endgame dialogue about forging their own destiny. ...Which they changed for some reason, just like the union Colepedian was a reference to the Collectopedia from the first game.
>>
>>13567764
You mean monads.
>>
I only have enough room on my Wii U for the basic pack and the enemy/monster pack.

Will I be fine? How necessary are the armor/skell loading packs? Does it take a while to load them in the menu's without those packs?
>>
>>13568030
You might want to look up what Logos means.
>>
>>13568082

Monad doesn't just mean philosophy, it also has to do with mathematics in programming.

Which lends a LOT to explaining how the Monado works. It's a gameshark, a cheat code device. It's using math to rewrite the universe locally like a Yuki Nagato in sword form.

>>13568539
I never said which monad it was.

Because if you stuck to one kind of monad, you'd marginalize stuff like how the Monado is a reality shaping device, or the meaning behind the I AM MONADO line and the preceding discovery of Shulk's own personal Monado.

The game was originally Monado, if anything this is the big hint that monads of all kinds are thematically important.
