In addition, their Fafner cores were already mutating to preserve their core essence, but not necessarily their bodies. If anything, Seri is pretty much a Human Festum with assimilation control issues outside of the cockpit at this point. I'd like to say she's a walking mass of crystals in the form of Seri's old body, but the testing they've undergone doesn't support that part.

After rewatching Episode 7 I'm convinced that Seri's only alive because of the Mir's power. When the cockpit gets crushed blood literally squrts out of it and they show inside the cockpit and she looks almost certainly dead. When Orihime ordered her to get up Orihime's eyes were glowing like a Festum's and she said it after the crystalization happened. Right when she woke up from the crystalization Seri said "Why am I alive right now"?

Not to mention that at the start of the very same episode is when Yumiko was also brought back to life.

Yeah, duh. The only reason the SDPs manifested was because of the Mir improving the Fafner Cores.
She didn't die though.
Also, Orihime says as long as he pilots have power, they need to keep fighting. Obviously she still had some power. Maybe the glowing eyes was Orihime communicating with the Mir saying maybe help out and show the pilots the ropes for their first usage of their powers.

Predictions for next episode?

The island will start heading towards Canon's coordinates where the two groups will eventually meet up. Also now that we know the Einherjar system can be controlled through the crossing like it was with Mimika this past episode, they will install it onto the Mark Dreizehn as well and Canon will be able to control it from the Gordian crystals. From there they should be able to make an army of Fafners, (remember the massive surplus of Fafner cores that appeared in episode 3?) all piloted by dead pilots from the Crossing each with their own unique SDP. (Will probably only reach this point for the final battle)

Canon can still pilot because she has one future sortie that's still not accounted for. Mimika and Kouyo and still pilot because they're still technically alive. But as for the people who are actually dead? I'd prefer for them to stay that way.

Perseus company got much more limited form of communication, Festum coming from all directions, Diablo that turns you into shishkebab with pinpoint accuracy and later on being human shields to protect refugee convoys.
They probably didn't even get to scramble their planes since we didn't see any jets during the Srinagar battle with giant worms popping from underground in their airfields.

So all the Azazels are revealed in this episode. One of the unknown one has ice powers, while the other was the Mir in H&E which sent Kurusu as some of us predicted (human tech copying powers?).

One of Kazuki's arm got assimilated, Soushi and Akira's assimilation symptoms are showing. The NUNs are also trying to capture Island Fafners with their pilots alive now, probably to pilot their brand spanking new Salvator model, will it be Maya or Akira I wonder

Jezus christ this episode was fucking hype as hell. Kazuki and Soushi are close to assimilation, Ai gets shot and Mitsuhiro is getting mind fucked. Everyone is about to die while they ware so close to the island, the bad guys seemed to be winning for a seccond and then Kurisu is back!

I like how in just 24 minutes they managed to set all the pieces up for the finale. The exodus group and the island are about to meet up, almost all the azazels are here, the Humans are there.... fuck we still have plenty of episode left for this to conclude.

Ah, it was poor phrasing on my part. I meant to say that the performance and capabilities shown by Nicht and Sein are one-offs. They look and function almost nothing like the Neo UN intended them to. Their monstrous powers and feats have gone well above their specs. Hell, Sein lost most of its armaments (The spikes, the homing lasers, etc) and still wrecks stuff with just the lance and the crazy assimilation abilities.

Unless it goes through some metamorphosis, which I'm sure it will, it's pretty much just on par with the Einherjar model at this point. Since they're all Sein-lite in their own little ways.

That would be great though. Goubain II saving the day.

I'm not so sure. Johnathan doesn't seem all that surprised at their capabilities in Ep. 9, and he would probably know something. It's true that they look different, but that's just SDP manifesting. I mean Festum can shape-shift at a whim.
The Nicht getting an extra pair of spikes isn't really anything all that impressive as we know Festum can assimilate matter, remember the Festum from Maya's first sortie in DA.

As for the Lasers, Sein v.1 had them in its first appearance. So fucking glad they're back.

All this, and experience tells me that the ending can only be a clusterfuck, because 90 percent of the time, it seems that devs cannot end long-runners in a satisfying manner.
