It is fucked up in one way, but the other side of the coin is that it's empowering for disabled people to see disabled pilots who are doing well in a story. Even in universe those pilots probably see it as empowering to be allowed to be equal members rather than relegated to shit jobs because they're disabled. What's odd about that? It's not like you can see anything in space in Gundam anyway. Everything on an MS monitor is a computer mock-up. The same cameras and computers that let them distinguish and render an enemy firing a beam weapon at you could just as easily play a PSHEW sound effect from a cockpit surround sound system, with the added advantage of you know that someone just shot at you from BEHIND where you're currently looking.

Sounds like a terrible idea. A tenth of a second improvement in reaction time wont help when you can't actually see where enemies are. Sure you can have a hum in the general direction of an enemy but precision shots are basically out the window and keeping track of 10+ enemies at different distances and positions surrounding you would be completely unmanageable at best. Not really, it's pretty equal to me. The Zeon forces stationed in that area are part of the Undead Squadron, people who were injured and handicapped. They're mostly people who are abandoned and down on their luck, not your typical Zeon soldiers.

Honestly this is one of the better and more coherent Gundam stories I've read. Character motivations are clear and relationships aren't overly convoluted. They manage to really make both protagonists balanced, they're both empathetic. The plot is simple, war for the Thunderbolt zone. The action is amazing.

I'm only up to volume 3, no idea what happens next. Can give us a summary? I really dont like the new Atlast Gundam design since it's so different.

Char's fleet is pretending to disarm themselves as part of a deal with the Federation. The TV camera was not affected because the fleet didn't and wouldn't spread minovsky particles, that would arouse the Federation's suspicion.

That was a field repair made in an extreme hurry, Lino didn't calibrate the camera properly. The Zeta does have other camera sensors on the body to help create a 360 degree panoramic view, but Lino only connected the head camera and nothing else.

I just looked the japanese raws, with no knowledge of japanese, until volume five or something. Gonna try give you a summary of what I understand so far:

Shit get ugly in the battle of A Baoa Qu, some elite special forces of the federation storm the fortress and find out that zeon was trying to mass produce the Zeong. The zeong scientists just calmly hand themselves to the federation forces.

Daryl and what still left of the Living Dead division retreat together with the fleet that saved them in the Thunderbolt sector.
Io, naked, pull of a macgyver act, escape his cell, kill the guards, free his comrades and escape with them in the spaceboats. Everything while the ship where they are, is on flames and sinking.

Time pass and look like the federation win the war or at least the majority of the fighting calmed down. Side 4 was rebuilded.
