I liked it.
Granted, I went in with a couple of years worth of /m/ telling me that this would be the shisno so it was pretty easy for it to be "better than I expected". There are lots of flashbacks, but considering /m/'s attention span and memory problems I imagine they were probably for the better for watching in a weekly format. If you just sit down to watch it in chunks or marathon sessions you will get a bit tired of the repetition, though.

Cagali is literally the best wo/m/an in all of Gundam. She sucks in destiny, but SEED Cagali is literally best.

I liked SEED and Destiny and they were the last Gundam series I watched due to avoiding them since everyone here bitched about them. It could go either way really, but don't feel the need to conform to /m/ tastes

Seed is average. Destiny really is pretty bad.

However neither are nearly as bad as the inhuman abominations this board makes them out to be. Even Destiny. You'd think its 5 times as worse as plan 9 from outerspace the way this board reacts, which would mean it's something so awful that just watching it should kill you on the spot.

That's Destiny. Her father didn't die until near the end of SEED, she was pretty butch before that. She did cry a lot right after that, but then pulled her shit together.
But Destiny made her a walking nervous breakdown who couldn't stand up for herself.

That's the biggest problem with Destiny right there. The exagerations of the old cast and "new" development was so awful and constant that's all people remember about them. Kira is holy Jesus who can do no wrong, Athrun is a constantly moping indecisive side switcher, Cagalli can't go two minutes without crying about the losses Orb took and flashing back to her father. The only one who isn't really any different is Lacus, and surprise she was the one nobody really liked anyway.

Remember the post Seed pre Destiny period when everyone thought Athrun was the most sensible character and Cagalli was badass? Nobody does anymore.
