***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're expereinced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

Dear /m/ gunpla posters. Could you please keep your threads to a minimum. Up to four separate threads are up on the catalog sometimes. Please be considerate.

Best regards, the rest of /m/
>>
>>13486800
It's our resident shitposter who creates all the duplicates. If a mod would ban him we'd all be happier.

Sincerely,

/gpg/
>>
>>13486800
We unfortunately have a few shitposters, and a lot of anons try to follow the "don't give the faggots attention and they'll go away" philosophy. The problem is that recently one of the shitposters has been making bait threads and has started incessantly samefagging all in a desperate attempt to fish for (You)s. There's also a Valvrager bait thread that pops up from time to time, but that's not the most pressing problem we have right now.

Our deepest apologies /m/.

>>
I don't browse /m/ often and even less GPG but:
What's the best way to know who is who so I don't feel the shitposters and be part of the problem? I feel like even mentioning like so is being part of the problem
>>
>>13486940
the tripfag sanpfit-kun. his shitposting used to be contained to this thread but i've seen that his autism has spread to other threads on /m/

If you see him post just filter him asap

I don't know how it worked but it did. And people still argue UC isn't best.
>>
>>13486940
If its a blurry g-reco kit with nubs and or posts saying "its toys" is the shitposter snapfagget-kun. Any posts saying "awesome or cool" is him samefagging along with sna or sn. Thats him. Beamknight is easy, if its outside kn a ledge its him. Pt-knight posts time to time. Asceandent posts too, nice builds but hes kinda of an elitist ass at times. Then theres crashman, that hawaiian and ant if he didnt get killed in bongland
>>
>>13486958
Okay thanks.

I'm only interested in UC anyways so I dont try and have an opinion in these threads because 90% of it is stuff I dont really like and I refuse to buy kits for the sake of buying kits if I dont watch that specific anime. I do plan on getting VOTOM kits and Dougram kits because those are other shows that I watch. Does anyone have experience with non-Gundam stuff? Is that even gunpla?
>>
>>13486992
I'm gonna be blunt, all of what you said was gibberish to me. What I figure is ignore all shitposters. Only few times I posted my backlog and my progress I was laughed at for being a rookie or ignore outright. I prefer older kits and UC kits that I assume that have been done to death in these threads.

It's still nice to see the occasional post of some old MSG stuff once in a while.I also dont really like the super master craft super grade kits because like the older shows I feel that less is more and leaves more to the imagination.
>>
>>13486937
It's for the arcade game on the back of the card but you can put it in a GP Base or whatever

It's too meta.

Rip the fallen hero stacks
>>
>>13487061
I'll help explain what my fellow anon said..

Snapfag-kun is our local, blatant shitposter. Usually, you can spot his stuff with blurry pictures of recent HG models (G-Reco line, Revive RX-78-2, Turn A, etc.) that are unpainted, horribly filled with nubs, and unlined. They are also posted in stiff poses. He also spams pictures of models, custom or showcase, with dumb file names or the wrong name of the MS, along with saying "ASTRAYS ARE UGLY" and likes to avatarfag (pictures of MSPaint drawings reacting to something unseen on the monitor). He also samefags to himself, usually poorly done and quite possibly purposely done with the names "Sn" and "Sna". It's pretty sad, even more sad that /m/ takes the bait, but I'm starting to think that he replies to himself as an angry retaliator so that he can get people to respond to those posts, telling them to stop replying to the shitposter, when in reality, they could potentially posting that to the shitposter. Filter him immediately, don't assume anything, report everything.

Some okay trips are beamknight87, who does little mini-reviews and showcases of pictures outdoors and they look wonderful. I'm getting an MG Gundam X because of that faggot's pictures.

There's AsceandentÆ, he makes some damn fine custom builds.

Crashman is a bro.

ANT (A New Translator) is a pretty cool dude who also makes cool painted builds. However, he's been missing, aside from the occasional post outside the general.

Have a nice time at /gpg/, anon, and stay safe.

however I was suprised by the small quantity of gunpla considering the comments from /m/, there's a bunch of mini bearguys and a couple of HG/MG/RG sitting in a tiny shelf and that's about it.

glad I helped to waste your money!
also ledges are superior, this is an undeniable fact! unless you are a moron and let your kit fall down, destroying all your hard work in a split second, if that happens, be sure to jumpr right after it, maybe you can catch it first
>>
>>13487198
Alright cool

I know this sounds quite like shitposting now, but I can't see myself ever going beyond HGUC or the older kits that I've glued. I've done some entry level painting, whether its a hatch or a gun that needs it, but I have really bad shakey hands and less time than most. But still I try and avoid posting because of the elitism, or higher standards most of you guys have - not a bad thing I get it, it's a bit of a club but still kinda cool to dip in once in a while.
>>
>>13487252

>>13487254
Im so glad i only bought the 1/144 xi. I have no space for the 1/100. forgive me if thats the 144 size

>>13487269
No worries m8, its all fine unless you post it and say theres nothing wrong and reject any criticism
>>
>>13487285
Nah I usually just get completely ignored. I built a 1992 kit of a Gerbera Tetra and that faded into memory. It lacked the quality that you would see today and ended more pinkish than red, but still though it was a great kit and the instructions were superb.

I lack a good camera so I dont really bother posting much anyways.

Here's a picture of most of my backlog. I've done a few kits since. The last kit I've done was the 1999 Zaku III Mashymere custom and I gotta say building it sucked ass. Probably my least favorite kit so far.
>>
>>13487267
Man, gotta love that delicious moon-Gundam.

>>13487269
It's all good, like >>13487285 said, you just have to be willing to accept criticisms. We're all here to make you get better and it's good to branch out and try the other scales, there isn't much difference besides more parts and an inner frame.

Whats with wing type customs and having dark colors + an edgy sounding name?
>>
>>13487848
It would be too bare without them, that's a lot of empty white space.
>>
>>13488118
As far as in the show, the team is a bunch of crazy people and the main character can't into social contact. Even if they were just being accurate to the show, it would make sense to have customs like these. Plus there's plenty of melee, which tends to bring about customs like these from what I've noticed (like the Astray and Exia do, same reasoning).
>>
>>13488140
But it seems to be the major theme for wing. Its either something with a bunch of melee weapons with a name like "death reaper blossom" or have it that the only thing custom was the wings. The only wing custom that seemed to break that trend was this cool knight looking one
figured there be more angelic based customs

It couldn't have frozen because the freezing point of alcohol is -114 and we don't get temperatures like that on Earth naturally.
Should I contact HLJ? It's not like they'll offer a replacement, will they? I've heard that even if they do, you have to pay for the shipping.

So, /m/, I have a desire to build the ultimate GM.

I was thinking about starting with the GM Sniper II, which has the highest performance of any OYW era GM, and adding parts from the GM III including the lateral leg thrusters and shoulders/arms. What other parts could be thrown into the mix? The shoulders of the GM III have hard points, and I suppose I could do something with the backpack thrusters. Or should I go off the reservation entirely and start adding non-GM parts?

Wow Vallejo German Gray just keeps impressing me every time I use it, today I primed and painted Barbatos' footclaws

The Off White I bought on accident is actually pretty close to the pure white of Barbatos' plastic too so that's good

Masking those form 4 shoulders is so daunting and yellow paint is an as whole, especially compared to that lovely smooth gray

Form 1 is no shoulders with the gauntlet arm, form 2 is the Graze shoulders, form 3 are the blue and white modified Graze shoulders, and form 4 is what the other anon said

It's weird but it's an official thing, the manual specifically talks about how the kit has both form 1 and form 4

Hello /m/. Yesterday in the /toy/ general I asked Gelgoog Guy how to thin when airbrushing. What in the fuck am I doing wrong?
>Thin at a 1:1 ratio using 10 drops of paint and 10 of thinner
>Give it time to sit there for about 30 mins so the chemicals can mix and all that
>Put the mixture into my airbrush
>Attempt to just use air
>Paint comes out when it shouldn't
>Dissasemble airbrush
>Same shit that happened when I used the shitty Master airbrush, it's all covered in paint
>Cleaned it up with isopropyl alcohol since posting this.

Help please. When this happened with a non-brand brush, I could assume it was due to their quality or my bad thinning. Now I'm lost as to why. I don't get it, I did what I was told for thinning, my brush is decent (Badger Patriot), it should logically work.

I hadn't messed much with my airbrush beforehand, I'd disassembled the back a few times to get the feel of it like you're meant to. Did not screw with the front. I was attempting spraying at a consistent 20 PSI.

Hi, I posted that pic.

It's definitely my favourite of them all, considering im a strictly UC kind of person I really like the campaign you get to play through. There's a lot of grinding and repetitiveness but you play it for the medium not really the gameplay. You can make alternative timelines like if Garma survived the war and was apart of Neo-Zeon etc etc. Lots of missions. Last time I looked I was '168%' done the game. You can even unlock the pscho gundam mk II and ZZ Gundam for Kamille to use.

Finished building the Star Winning last week. First SD I've built but it was pretty fun; wanted to practice my (mediocre) painting skills haha. Bought it for under $6 with a coupon I had from a local hobby shop.

Overall I thought it came out pretty decent, but there's still many areas I want to clean up/go over with more paint (looking at you gunblade).

While it's obviously limited in articulation, the transformation gimmick is pretty fun to play around with.

I think, since I don't have work tomorrow, I might get back to working on my HGUC Zeek Mk. I. It's just sitting on my desk in my bedroom, near-half assembled anyway.

BTW, how do I shot topcoat? What's the best method and what, exactly, do I need to do before I drown my gunpla in acetone/nail polish remover?
>>
>>13489882
Personally I think some reviewers were expecting too much out of the kit since it was associated with the Build Fighters line. At the end of the day it's still an SD kit, so limited articulation should be a given. Especially with its 3-way transformation gimmick.

I agree that it is sticker city though. I think I ended up only using three main ones (eyes, core fighter hatch, and gunblade sight). My only real grip with it is that the right arm tends to fall out of the polycap it's connected to. But that can be remedied pretty easily.

If you're a fan of the suit I'd say pick it up. You can have more fun with it compared to its predecessor.
>>
>>13489890

Read the Guide and the OP.
The OP says how you should ask questions. Break these rules, we break you.
If you are gonna ask questions, post pictures that clearly show the problem and describe the steps you took up to it.
>>
>>13489943
I've read the guide and OP multiple times. I'm providing as much info as I know on the problem, and explaining the steps I took. Other than what I've given on the matter, I don't know anything else to add, so I can't elaborate.
>>
>>13489951
Figure out what you did wrong then get back to us. Pictures of messy parts and a "I'm inexperienced please understand" attitude don't lead to anything productive.
>>
>>13489822
>Thin at a 1:1 ratio using 10 drops of paint and 10 of thinner
>Give it time to sit there for about 30 mins so the chemicals can mix and
all that

What... what?!?!

The chemicals will react if you just leave them sitting exposed to air. You mix'em and shoot them through the gun, letting them sit does nothing you want.

Also your ratio is wierd. 2:1 or 30:70 are more common. When in doubt, you look up whatever instuction the product comes with.

Paint coming out when you press the button means that your seal is either defective or you assembled the gun incorrectly after cleaning.

Thank you. /toy/ believes my nozzle and needle must not have been perfectly aligned or put on. I didn't do much to that at all, but I do understand that without knowing I could have botched it. I'll keep testing, with water for now.
>>
>>13489841
there's nothing better than self-learning, i mean in physical ways.

read some manuals about air brush things & the assembling diagram. you should get something more out of that at least. RTFM: 101, just like plamo build: 101

posting in any board for solution of a problem was like 50% chances to be doing things right or wrong, unless a video of your steps then it could be more solid rather than just pictures.
full detail of pictures of the step is acceptable.

you remind of my so called past friend where he likes to spout big time bullshits about things etc etc but when come to reality of doing that things he was like "wtf was that things?"
he could talk all about fixing a car but when handled a toolbox for him to do that, he will be a know-nothing fucktard. simple to say, he's a motherfucking big talk fucktard & have no base: 101.
just saying.
>>
>>13489822
I had something like this happen with my iwata airbrush. The front nozzle qas caked in dried paint so that was an easy fix, there was some more inside so i just soaked it in a water/alcohol mix till it came off. But what broke my brush was the needle got jammed somehow and i couldnt remove it.
Idk what youre doing to break it

Not in the air, in a glass sealed lid. I'd transferred from the paint jar to there, then added the thinner and mixed it, not straight into the airbrush cup. That's one thing I was unclear on, my fault for not mentioning it.

As for the paint ratio, I'd been advised to do that. The paint (Model Master acrylic) has no specific thinning ratio, the Testors FAQ doesn't mention it and I had checked that before airbrushing.

So I'm picking up the kotobukiya Jehuty soon, and I'm planning on doing the blue lines in a metallic blue. Normally I'd do a panel wash, but I've never liked doing that with metallics. Would it be feasible to do a kind of reverse wash in that situation? My thought was too lay down the actual color of the armor and then apply the line colors kind of sloppily and removing anything that goes out of the lines with alcohol.
>>
>>13490056
I don't doubt you, but I did thin in a way that people thought was ok. So then, I am going to clean the airbrush parts more with some glass cleaner.

What ratio should I be thinning at, then? Instead of 1:1.
>>
>>13490071
Try 30:70, maybe? Some dude online remarked that he goes up as far as 10:1 thinner:paint with model master and still has issues and the books suggest dicking around until you got it figured out for your specific product and spraying setup. Don't panic, just keep on trying and spraying.

that part on the bottom right is just huge

it could have been like at least 4 separate pieces

>>

>>
>>13490813
>>13490739

It's because of the inner frame. They want to keep the costs down, but adding a full inner frame increases the parts count. So they take some parts that would normally be a couple of different pieces and lump them together into one piece instead in order to keep the relatively same number of parts/runners per HG kit.

I don't know about the Graze, but the Barbatos was the same way on a couple of parts.
>>
>>13490734
Ignore the shit poster. Buy whatever kits you think look cool. You don't need to watch the show, although you may like a design more or less because of it.

What's are other safe ways to strip enamel off of kits besides bleach baths?

Purple power strips almost anything if you leave it to soak long enough and doesn't damage the plastic.

Which brand silver/aluminum/steel paint has a more coarse grain? Vallejo or Tamiya? I'm deliberately putting a stripe of coarse metallic next to fine metallic grain for a certain effect.
>>
>>13491336
It's not really a grenade, it's just that the transformation gimmick is flimsy.

As long as you keep it in either MS or Waverider mode, you'll be fine.

Mineshima D-3A Plastic Nipper was pretty good, but need some mods & sharpening skill to make it the best tool. mine was a little tardy in rivet hinge & half ass finishing cutter blade although it stated from Japan.

Painted up the frame of my HG barbatos this past week. Then I realize that I forgot to sand down the mold lines, but most of those will be covered by the armor anyways.

The armor is primed and I'm going to be painting that up next. Working on a little mars diorama base too.
