It's too bad the VF-17 wasn't in Macross 30 but at least we got the VF-171 and you can even fly it in Gamlin or Miria colors.
So the 25 actually does have a hatch like the 19 under the head, although in the first movie the back flap opens so Alto can leave through the canopy.
>>13486361
Hard to say. Maybe Michael just exited from the back.

You say that and post an image of the VF-1 where it has no waist. The entire torso is a cone and the legs plug into the sides.
>>13488144
It's the illusion of form that I mean. I realize that, mechanically, pretty much all VFs have spines for stomachs, but the VF1s have the broad chests and folded up wings to fill out the silhouette and give it an imposing figure.

>>13488479
>no Monster posted
Plz it's my first love
Hey guys.
This thread need more Lucifer.
I really like the VF-5000.
Why? Because the transformation is simple. There's a lot of valks that basically hang together by a fucking thread while they transform. Christ, the VF-1's legs could potentially fall off the body if there was a mistake during transformation.
But this motherfucker? That ain't a problem with this motherfucker.
>>13488824
The legs just swing down using a single joint. No fancy disconnecting-the-hips shit here.
>>13488824
>>13488825
You just pissed off a lot of VF-1 fags. Prepare yourself for the butthurt.
>>13488831
I like it but there's no denying the legs look like they could pop off if you move too fast
>>13488863
The legs literally disconnect from one spot and reconnect to a different spot during the transformation process.
I understand that being the first Valkyrie, it clearly had some flaws, but damn. If you released the connector too soon, the legs would fall away, and you'd suddenly have no engines, no power source, nothing. You'd fall out the fucking sky.
>>13488912
That's a toy diagram son, not an in universe tech manual.
Also MUH SUPER ALEIN SCIENCE says fuck you.
>>13488925
This isn't a toy diagram. This is the actual in-universe design for the transformation.
All the toys use a swing bar attached to the rear torso. Absolutely nothing like what's shown in >>13488912 and >>13488935
Amazingly, the toys therefore have a saner design than the in-universe one, because at least the legs can't detach from the body mid-transformation if a mistake is made.
>>13488912
I imagine a VF technician misplacing one component and getting found out would earn a harsh punishment far in excess of what other technicians in other branches of the military get.
To say nothing of what happens if a VF goes down due to a connector issue and they trace its maintenance log back to that one guy.
>>13488972
>Fuck up during maintenance/part replacement
>Didn't realise it
>Suddenly see a plane return to base soon after take off
>with only one leg remaining
>Shit, I replaced the joints for a VF just now, which one did I work on? #1125? #1123?
>It rolls to the hangar
>Chief checks maintenance logs
>ANNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON
>ohgodno.jpg
>>13488985
>Get screamed at by the chief
>The pilot climbs down the plane to beat you up for nearly killing him
They probably have a stringent pre-flight check.
>>13488972
>>13488985
The problem is, this can happen even if there's no mechanical problem whatsoever. On other Valkyries, a maintenance error could cause a joint to fail during operation, but with the VF-1 it's on a whole other level. A software error could cause this. Hell, the first VF-1 models had manual transformation. Pilot error could jettison the engines. That's insane.
Every single other Valkyrie has all of their component parts remain physically connected to one another during transformation. The VF-1 is unique in that a part actually detaches and reattaches during transformation. Again, it's understandable that the first ever Valkyrie would have design flaws. But it's the reason why, no matter how iconic it is, and no matter how its performance is, I can't trust the VF-1, because it's the only Valkyrie where the legs can literally fall off a 100% fully functional, fully maintained unit, under normal operating conditions, because you pushed a button too soon.
>>13488995
>Every single other Valkyrie has all of their component parts remain physically connected to one another during transformation.
Actually the 24+ don't, they use some kind of magnet bullshit so none of the parts contact each other during transformation.
>>13489009
They don't touch each other, as in, they don't touch any other part not involved in transformation, look through the transformations frame by frame.
If you look at the transformatiom scheme, they don't necessarily separate.
>>13489009
They don't separate though. They use contactless actuation, but the joints don't actually separate.
>>13488985
This actually hits closer to home that I'd care for it to because I was involved in maintenance of vehicles during compulsory service.
My forebears left a trail of a jumbled mess on the bookkeeping too, so in the months leading up to the yearly audit we were not only going as straight as possible with our own checks, but inventing new and creative numbers and records for the "black history" of the past year based on what scraps we had and hoping they'd work.
>>13488942
Original vf1 jetfire toys had the best leg transformation joints.
>>13488362
Funnily enough, that wasn't me (>>13488152). Apparently, I'm not alone here. I like VF1s, 2,s and the ones from Plus. Probably some others as well, I'm not entirely well-versed in Macross. I mostly know them from a visual design standpoint.

I don't know much about aircraft livery, but I don't think their radio callsign would be painted on there.
>>13499236
That's not their radio callsign, that's the code designation for the prototype. When Guld was dodging missiles and such, Isamu was referred to as Chaser-1. Alpha-1 and Omega-1 are the YF-19 and YF-21.
Still equally odd for the planes' code designations to be painted on, kind of defeats the purpose of a code designation.
>>13499331
Yeah, but wasn't Isamu in a Thunderbolt when he was "Chaser-1?" I remember the 19 having the code Eagle-1 at some point, too, though that might have just been the Movie Edition.
>>13499733
He was. Alpha-1 and Omega-1 are just the pilot callsigns for the YF-19 and YF-21. The YF-19 is called the Excalibur and the YF-21 is the Sturmvogel. And the VF-22 is called Sturmvogel II.

>>13501202
They did show a VF-2 and VF-0 so maybe they'll get to it eventually.
>>13501202
The problem with the 17 is the shifting of proportions. Unless Bandai invents some kind of magic material for their toys, a 17 by them will have the same problems.
And is the Hi-Metal line still alive?
>>13503351
http://tamashii.jp/item_brand/hi-metal_r/
Yeah, man. They revived it as Hi-Metal R and they already released an armored VF-1J with a VF-1S Hikaru and Regult coming next. They also teased a VF-0 and VF-2 a few weeks back.
>>13492419
Acording to Macros Chronicle it is the Varauta variant of the VF-14.
Earth sends monkey model designs to fleets and they had to rework the designs for their fleet. This is why Macross 7's VF-19s are more space oriented compared to the VF-19A. This is also why the VF-25, VF-27 and YF-29 are YF-24 derivatives.
Guess the reason why the SV-262 Draken III is an SV is that it isn't a NUNS approved VF and is manufactured by a non-NUN affiliated entity. Much like the Varauta VFs.
>>13503505

I'm watching the original and I have a question. Why do the Zentradi want the Macross so damn much? They've lost more ships than it would be worth to capture it. In the TV series and movie, it's never made really clear. In Kawamori's retroactive continuity, the Macross is an old "Supervision Army" ship -- the Supervision Army was the Protoculture's military police, if you will. They supervised the Zentraedi, which made up the vast majority of the Protoculture's military forces. Apparently the Supervision Army were destroyed by the Protodevlin along with the rest of the Protoculture, leaving the Zentraedi un-supervised. I guess the Supervision Army's technology musta been way superior to what the Zentraedi would have access to... which makes sense, I guess.
Anyway, that's how I understand it.

It's funny how an old variable fighter pre-macross era is one of the strongest unit in the game.
>>13522106
Its only weakness is its inability to fly in space maps, otherwise, its godly.
Alto's VF-25 with the second armor pack is pretty good as well, a good range of weapons for a variety of situations, but since any weapon works, it doesn't matter. The nukes though.
>High speed unit with all 3 forms available with the armor pack
>Have the extra hp from the armor pack
>Heavy firepower
The Plus VFs are really good, especially with their super packs(And anything that shares their super packs), I use the VF-19A(I prefer the 19A's special attack) to kill shit, the missiles on the 19/21/22 behave really differently from every other missiles.
>>13522121
You're talking about the cluster missiles right? Good shit.
>>13522128
Not just the cluster missiles.
The regular multi-target missiles, the rapid-fire ones, all of them.

VF-11 with the armor pack has a godly gunpod.

>>13521181
I guess the Supervision Army's technology musta been way superior to what the Zentraedi would have access to... which makes sense, I guess.
The zentraedi were created just to fight, so they don't know how to build new weapons. Everything they use is hundreds of years old, or more. That's why an old gunship like the Macross was so precious.
Of course, I don't know how that fits with them having factory satellites built by the protoculture.

The Zents are disposable soldiers.
They give them weapons that are just enough for their job and done.
Besides, they can just throw a Zentradi fleet at an enemy if they needs something that isn't the Protodevlin or Vajra dead. Numbers, anon, numbers.
The Macross had nukes, which the Zentradis were very interested in, and there's the whole culture thing.

I think it's mainly nostalgia boners at this point, VF-X 2 played infinitely better, looked better and had a better plot. But it didn't have the VF-4, that sweet stealth carrier >>13514964 or Milky Dolls.
