Strike and Freedom sold very well. The reason Kira didn't move much Gunpla in Destiny is because he was using the same Gundam as before that everyone already had for most of the show and Strike Freedom came too late and didn't do enough to get people interested in it. But Kira was liked by kids. Mostly because of Seed, admittedly, but it was there.

Freedom was topping top 10 Gundam polls back then, and Strike Freedom was ranking before it even appeared outside the OP.
