You're missing the part were you don't actually need to be a bad person to get possessed by a Horror. The only things needed are negative feelings (inga/karma), a gate, and an opening in your heart (a weak will). Of course most of the people possessed by Horrors were actually bad according to most standards, but there have been quite a few cases of good people being possessed by Horrors upon meeting the requirements. Out of the top of my head, there's at least the wind chime guy from Makai no Hana and the blacksmith from Honoo no Kokuin.

I dunno about this week. It's another episode that goes absolutely nowhere and does very little to advance the overarching plot. I found myself not really caring about Yasusuke because we have no other reason to than the whole cliche "noble in love with a commoner" thing.

And what's the overarching plot for you? For the protagonists to fight Ashiya Douman? Since episode 3 I've been feeling that this series is gonna have a heavy focus on the struggle for power between the important individuals rulling the capital and on the inequality issues that their administrative system generates. I personally find this both unexpected and interesting. And coming from that point of view, this episode was quite related to the plot, especially if you consider that Yasusuke will keep playing a role in the series.

No, there are legitimate reason to say that Gold Storm wasn't good. Look, I overall like it, but it has issues that are a bit hidden but they are there. I believe that Gold Storm, as a whole is way better than YamiTera, but only the movie is on par with other parts of the franchise.

I'm not sure if that's really a recent thing and not an extrapolation of how toku fights have been changing throughout history. I'v been watching 1966 Ultraman and the suits get dirtied and damaged almost carelessly. In comparison, most "modern" (like, '90s onward) shows I've seen look like they were trying hard not to break things.

Yokoyama mentioned in the interview in Garo Pia. There seems to have not much of a choice.
Between the choice of suit "bust up" (upper body) suits only + CGI he went for full CGI instead. It also give them the chance to see how far they can go with CGI, and use the techniques in the later series.

With GARO specifically, it's a consequence of the "hero" suits (used for posing and simple scenes) looking so much better than the stunt suits. Rider has at least one hero suit and one stunt suit for each form (apart from one-use forms or kitbashes), Sentai does the same for each Ranger and post-2000's series may have even more suits for each robot form (hero suit with special gimmicks, hero suit without gimmicks, stunt suit, stunt suit without protruding features for extra flexibility.)

According to Mark Musashi, they made detailed hero suits and flexible stunt suits for Garo and Zero in the first season, with only the hero suits using the then-new process that makes them so shiny and convincingly metallic. The lack of shininess made the stunt suits look incredibly different from the hero suits on-camera, so Amemiya had the early episodes shot entirely with the Garo hero suit and CGI and altered the scenes requiring the stunt suit so they could be done without damaging the hero suit. All episodes after the first few were written to accommodate hero suit and CG use only. Kiba never had a stunt suit made at all because of the suit's short usage, and the suits took real damage in the final arc. Makai Senki's suits were therefore all-new and slightly redesigned to look better and be a bit more usable in actual fight scenes.

He doesn't remember if the stunt suits ever showed up on camera, but if they did they'd only be in badly-lit scenes because Amemiya's a perfectionist when it comes to his vision.

Having time to work on things, and not being limited to a preschool demographic means you get more opportunities. When you are doing 48 episodes a year for an ever-changing demographic, and your main job is to sell toys and not to sell the show, you get some setbacks.

In the very first episode, the armor generates fire on its own, although it was red and didn't behave like the lighter's flames. I think they sort of just eventually conflated the two abilities because they didn't feel like showing Garo fiddle with the lighter every fight.

So, they clearly tried to play pretty much the same card as last time but I didn't buy it this time. There's no real story behind this family's tragedy... maybe that should've been the point? Tbh I dunno. But the whole situation with Kosode and Yasusuke was still fleshed out much better and gave characters (if temporary) to give a fuck about. And If they really wanted to play this whole "is giving up your life a strength or a weakness" idea they should've given it more focus.
And this goddamn anticlimatic fight. Sealed gigantic Horror? Well I'll just slice it in half after I put on my armor. God, I hate Guren no Tsuki as much as I like it at some points. Probably the most divisive Garo series for me so far.

I really liked the past few episodes, I think Guren no Tsuki is starting to hit a nice stride

It isn't that she resisted it. She just accepted her death right before the Horror came to possess her, thus becoming an unsuitable host. Still, it gives a lot to think about. First she was clinging to his life, which for Raikou should be a sign of strength, but that would have eventually led to her being possessed by the Horror. However, when she realized that her kids could be just fine even without her, and probably taking into account that in her condition she was more of a burden than a support, she decided to finally let go of her life.
