Yang
> yade yade, Prince Lohengram is using a spinning reich vortex fleet deployment method, quite daring, I would have done the same in his position
> Frederica, get all the arrows up on the screen real quick, our allies have almost certainly been defeated already so I'll have to come up with something ingenious
>... *deep thinking*
> alright, what we have to do is pretzel the enemy forces between three bullshit fleets I just pulled out of my ass, as soon as we tie them up with these decoys we can deploy our main fleet directly into their mid ranks, crushing them instantly

LOGH tactics were really a piece of crap.

But at least they tried to pretend that they do something logical instead of retarded "charge at them head-on" crap almost all other sci-fi series do.

Seriously, Frontier battles were so much better when it comes to tactics. Like that episode with Vajra mini queen that lured the defense fleet with one strike force to jump behind Frontier mid-battle with the main force.

Something that simple is beyond most writers and that's pretty sad.

Never enough. Though when the game warps to the next level any hijacked ships don't group up by type. Instead they queue one by one to side. About 40ish hijacked frigates and cruisers they start to go off map.
>>
>>13458788

Smartbombs spread a cloud of nanomachines that wreck shit around you. AoE nova basically.

Almost completely useless normally because of super close range. But these guys catch jumping fleets in anti-warp bubbles so they are ripped out of warp exactly where they want them. And at that spot a fleet of AoE battleships is waiting.

Super hard to execute. But when you do it it can murder entire fleets in seconds.

Not hard when the battleships are super obsolescent - the Salamis class in the OYW war is great example it's more than a decade old when war breaks out, and it continues to soldier on for ANOTHER 70 YEARS.

Most of the time state of art ships do pretty well.

Cloaked spies sit off a jump-gate and watch for which exit a fleet has warped towards. They report that the fleet is heading towards another spy camping at that exit. That spy then deploys some kind of warp interdiction device to drop the fleet in the wrong spot where a beacon has been setup. A super capital in some other star-system then launches a battleship fleet to the beacon where they then start to pulse AOE weapons. The formerly boring system that was just being traversed now has a dozen hostiles just in front of the exit. The weapons are turn off after the last of the escape pods are destroyed and the ambushers start looking for nice loot in the wreckage.

It's not the best, but Operation: Heaven's Gate in Majestic Prince was pretty good.

The buildup with them trying to get Earth's military forces to agree and how everyone was at their A-Game was great.
Shit got done
Enemies were taken out
Actually good tactics were used on both sides and things were always changing
The main mechs didn't have a CRUCIAL role in it outside of a few moments

>but the final battle in SEED was tense as fuck.
How? It was beamspam over beamspam, with idiotic genocide antics coming from BOTH sides of the war, and only the special snowflake protagonists being good and righteous. And to top the whole shit sandwich, Lacus giving stupid speeches. From the first time I watched SEED, one of the things that irked me the most about the whole finale was that Patrick Zala was murdered by some random adjutant. It seems *someone* was too scared to make Athrun a parricide.

You want tense, motherfucker? A Baoa Qu in The Origin. You really feel like the fate of the Earth Federation hangs in the balance.
>>
>>13478543
I know, I've played a fair share of them and it's really no worse than any group where people are passionate about something. Finding a group that's moderately competent, online at semi-regular times, and doesn't implode long term is still a bitch and a half, though.

To add to the other posts, a pipebomb is only possible due to the ability to put out a single damage type from the smartbombs, which the battleship group can all tank no problem (smartbombs are friendly-fire).

Patrick Zala was shot by 'some random adjutant' to mirror Azrael's fate of going so far across the line and turning on his subordinates when they try to bring them back to a vaguely sane position (and have them turn on him in course leaving both of them dead). It had to be from someone already in ZAFT and hence Arthran was discounted, I don't know why they went for his adjutant over Ezalia but I guess they didn't want her dead for whatever reason and there wasn't anyone else on ZAFT that we knew who was left.
