Apparently this one was made by Compile (shares brand-identifying sound effects and they're credited) but published by Telenet (not, surprisingly, Nihon Telenet of Valis and other games). Pretty cool MSX2 mecha fighting game.

Love Vanguard Bandits. One of the better WD translations too, from what I remember.

I think I've seen Frame Gride talked about only a few times on /m/. Weird, since it's basically a more arcade-y Armored Core in a fantasy setting.

Frame Gride x Souls when.

Once you get used to the controls it's fucking amazing. The awkward control scheme actually captures the heavy ground-pounding of a super heavy mech and once you get good with it you'll feel like a real pilot.

Megazone 23: Aoi Garland, and my god the battle system is simple yet effective. So glad to know that there was somebody in Japan who had not forgotten the Megazone 23 OVA existed.

>>
>>13468963
I've played that game, and it isn't very good. Quality is all over the place, balance was thrown out of the window, and so on.
>obscure secrets out of the ass, and most times it's just useless shit like a girl with a pistol
>the game introduces the vehicle creation/modification in the early 20s and never touch upon it again... SUDDENLY, you have to fight a giant monster with just vehicles - didn't upgrade them? TOUGH LUCK!
>the giant robots are used so sparsely throughout the game that you'll feel no incentive to upgrade them - until they get defeated by a single jet plane, IN A SINGLE ATTACK
>too many of the stages are useless from a story point
>almost every map has a ton of special events that will probably leave you in a very vulnerable position sooner or later

It's not all that bad, though.
>>
>>13469137
It strikes me as something that would've been drastically improved in a sequel or two. The frame work is there, but it never pulled itself together.

>>
>>13469051
Horrid pacing because everything is literally Monster of the Week plots save for the originals who only get plot advancement every 8 or 9 stages. And plot holes like why Luciferd doesn't just explain to Gavan that he was brainwashed as soon as they meet up on earth. He just lets everyone on the team assume he was evil and is probably planning on betraying them so there can be conflict and have the brainwashing as a "twist".

This x1000. Ranger-X is one of my favorite Genesis games.

also, it's Saturn semi-counterpart Bulk Slash is also fucking fantastic (sadly, it's much more expensive -- runs great in SSF though)
It's very much Ranger-X in 3D, although you have an unlimited flight mode.
Solid visuals, controls great, you get to pick up cute navigator girls.
You don't need to understand any moon to enjoy it.

only dim spot is the one escort mission, but that's also not too hard

Zettai Hero Project for PSP is one continuous toku/mecha reference. A great dungeon crawler by the people who made Disgaea, and funny to boot. Emulates well I assume, I had it on the actual PSP so I wouldn't know but it shouldn't be be taxing since it's 2d. Oh yeah. Emulated it on my 6 year old laptop, 2.1GHz Pentium Dual-Core crap. SSF is pretty damn great.
You just need Daemon Tools to mount disc images for SSF to use (remember to uncheck all the adware and bullshit, but other things like VirtualCloneDrive don't emulate the disc drive well enough for SSF).
remember to mount the game before opening SSF, it won't open otherwise if you don't have a real disc drive
Any recent i3 machine or better will have zero problems.

there isn't any Saturn emulator other than SSF that actually works well, yabause is garbage and extremely slow

I've played the SNES one, and it's surprisingly not shit. Although you'll be destroyed in seconds if you don't know most of the movies.
Hell, I got through two stages without knowing you could block. Once you learn it, the game becomes much, much easier. Blocking is almost totally invincible in the game, the only exceptions being throws, being hit on the back or from above.

Rengoku 2 is a weird ugly action dungeon crawl. You're a cyberrobot and you go and kill everything and get loot and upgrade yourself and kill everything more.
Looks better on a monitor than a psp. Nice way to kill a few minutes here and there.

Not pictured is my current build, all homing missiles so I basically run around and itano circus everything.
>>
>>13479765
>In a nutshell Faselei! is a turn-based strategy-RPG where instead of controlling several characters to perform a single action in alternating turns, you control one character (a giant mecha) for several actions in each turn. You do this by queuing each of your actions and then letting them play out against the enemy's queued actions. The premise is that your mecha (or Toy Soldier, referred to as a TS), has a CPU which starts off with the ability to remember 5 actions, and can be upgraded to queue 6 and later 7 actions. Each action meanwhile is based on a series of "program chips" you collect.

So it's basically Front Mission meets Carnage Heart? I need this.

>>
>>13480156
Yes, they're budget as hell. But again, it was fully voiced. It even had an 'opening' and an 'ending' for each level/episode, which to be honest got kind of tiring but added to the animu charm.
>>
>>13480156
>>13480292
If I recall right, being budget games the Simple Series gets a lot more freedom in experimental design, so there's no guarantee it'll always be raw kusoge with them.
