Most action scenes you see in western comics are more like a weird still shots rather than a sense of flow or motion. Oftentimes this is done because of the writer ruining any sense of coherency.

I'm not saying manga is better but they are usually a lot more willing to show rather than tell.

It's because of the training, and mainly the training.

Big time western artists like Ivan Reis are especially bad at it.

Yeah, there's an image I keep meaning to save from the perspective of an older character artist complaining that artists these days in art school aren't trained how to properly draw things in motion and the human body and all those other fundamental things. All they want to do is glue shit to their own bodies.
