Especially since Verbalism is supposed to be a very general power of expression: Even Kokone has power despite explicitly shutting down her ability to express herself effectively.

And here we've got a side character with absolutely no Verbalism skill. Nothing! Nada! Ziltch!

Then again, the last time we had a character without an element power, that ended up being a disappointment; Cute and thematic, but rather boring. Perhaps being mute to Verbalism simply is rare rather than special.

SNA is a decent watch; It's a 6/10 character driven series with some interesting lore and a neat twist on finishing moves: It's about the character, not the robot. Design is good, Animation is decent, music is fabulous, characters are intriguing, story is alright.

EVOL starts off relatively generic, borrowing heavily from SNA's themes. It manages to come into its own by the halfway point, but at the same time, it starts to fall apart. By the time you get to the end, it manages to bleed all the excitement and interest you had in it as well as retconning SNA in significant and negative ways. Design is excellent, animation is mediocre, music is amazing, characters are wasted potential and story is shit.

The real thing that burned EVOL viewers is that the series chopped down all the good speculation and background for an undiscoverable option: Rena was as close as confirmed to the reincarnation of Pollion during her character episode in SNA. The only other solution in the exchange was that Apollo was Pollion and Rena was Apollonius.This directly contradicts EVOL's Finale which, without buildup or foreshadowing literally says "No, you're wrong, Apollo was Pollion, have weird unexplained love triangle 24000 years ago."

Logos can be watched effectively with the following cheat sheet:

1. Anything important happens in multiples of 12000 years. Anyone important reincarnates across 12000 years.

2.The most dangerous motherfucker in the universe always has wings on his head.

3. Maiya has karmic support from the intense anguish over Zessica losing shipping wars during EVOL.

4. Akira is getting tied to Gen Fudo of SNA so hard, I firmly expect him to stop wearing shoes and communicate only through Koans.

5. Aquarion relishes puns and wordplay, Logos is the epiphany series where they realized they can make it a focus. Go watch SNA if you want more, but they've reused a few good ones already.

Hold off on Shrade, he delivered exactly what was on the label. Twice as bright, half as long calmly homosexual, kinda sociopathic prodigy trying to die for his masterpiece.

Ironically for being the flattest motivated character, he has some of the best connections, since he managed a rival role with Kagura, a bromosexual hint with Mikono's brother, target of an unrequited relationship with the chairman, painfully obvious links to Sirius through reincarnation and an incredibly Aquarion death scene

It may have been as simple as him not surviving till shit got REALLY dumb, but I have fond memories of his character.

Shrade was good, but only because he kept himself in his own little subplot of dying instead of being dragged into the whole Zessica/Amata/Mikono/Kagura love drama like the rest of the cast did. Hell, even Andy was better when he was set out to save MIX than talking to Amata about how to get Mikono.

Then again, it all ends up like >>13478426 says, everyone are so absorbed into their own subplots that they forget the characters are supposed to be friends or even have a certain kind of relationship. Andy looks like an asshole hitting Amata and blaming him for MIX's kidnapping, and MIX who is supposed to be Zessica's best friend barely even shows support to her even when Zessica is obviously spiraling deep into her heartbreak. Amata's relationship with Alicia is also inconsistent, first he blames himself for her abandonment and then like 10 episodes later he says he has hated her all this time. Mikono and Yunoha's friendship is merely a convenient plot device that was barely relevant outside the graveyard arc. And Kagura and Amata seemed to hate each other beyond being love rivals, the parts with Kagura resenting Amata for being weak and, at the same time, trying to compensate for this, and Amata fearing Kagura for being insane and unstable could have been interesting to explore, but alas, they weren't allowed to care about things that weren't Mikono so all that was just wasted.

There are more examples of this throughout the show but the point is, they never put any effort into making the relationships that were not romantic to be believable. Too much time spent in romantic melodrama, too little time spent defining the characters and their relationships to other people that weren't their love interests, which could have done wonders to make the cast not look like cardboard cutouts.

This would make sense why Nesta called him an outsider, she doesn't remember the original pilot since he was wiped from existence.

Subete's transition from top beta to dangerous villain is great, and considering how late into the game Nesta is she's proving surprisingly great. I also don't know how they managed to do it but I care about the entire protagonist cast now, considering how one-note a lot of them are, especially Akira.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that this is a different timeline. Personally, I think this is the Jin and Unoha clone timeline, and they're Savior's Grandparents we saw in one episode. This timeline probably didn't have the tree of life, and instead had words. Fudo probably reincarnated into it after the OVA.

Vector-Ga's pilot wasn't anyone special. He was a pretty damn normal guy.

Excepting of course one thing; Vector-Ga eats its pilot's existence. It wasn't a relic at the time, someone built the damn thing to fight and said "We need a pilot, but this thing will disintegrate you and all evidence of you."

Murmurs, some nervous laughter, and a single hand, held up high.

The forgotten savior who now never existed.

And here's Akira, another man who carries no comparison; A man who sees no difference between coming to the aid of a woman being robbed and charging into battle with an unknown foe with an unknown machine.

It does not matter who was in Vector-Ga, he was the Savior. When Akira hops into that cockpit however, the Savior rides again.

That's a cool idea.

The hero that disappears after his job was done. That would line up perfectly with what Subete said, in a world that doesn't need saving, a savior is useless. Only when the world is in danger is when the savior appears to save the world, then he disappears, devoured by Vector-Ga.

Of course, this presents the contradiction where the savior who saved everyone is unable to save himself from being devoured.

A savior cannot save himself, the savior must sacrifice for the saved, in sweat, blood or soul

But what if there was someone who could fill his cup as he empties it? Someone who could carry him when he is tired?

I won't be satisfied with Maia sacrificing herself to save Akira, nor will I be satisfied with Akira holding his fist high, declaring one last time "Because I am the Savior!"

One savior is crushed under the weight of his world, but two will save their worlds, and their worlds include the other.
