I'm enjoying Tiga but I wish it would go a bit deeper into its plot more often. There's a lot of interesting hooks like the ancient civilization that was destroyed and what Tiga itself really is, but at the point I'm at they've done almost nothing with it. I know that most Ultra shows don't really have much plot but it really stings here because I'm actually really interested in what's there. But then, I still have the last 15 or so episodes left, so it could end up pulling a swerve on me.

It's kind of a clusterfuck after the "retool." Not every time. Nexus managed to do something approximately like what it set out to. It ended up having to do that in fewer episodes, but still, a rushed final stretch is less crappy than losing track of its own themes.

The first half is mainly focused on TAC and their operations along with them growing together as teammates while the second half reduces their overall screentime and development in favor of featuring a really fucking annoying kid who does nothing other than be the standard "child character in a toku." IMO, having a focus on the attack team itself provided an excellent jumping-off point for having episodes featuring past Ultras and I think that's why we got cool stuff like that in the first half. But they spend so long on the kid and forcing Seiji into being a big brother-type role that I think it ended up hurting them in the long run. Episodes that featured the old guys became less common, TAC became less important, and nothing truly iconic happened until the finale. It's a damn shame, and it's all because they ditched a single character halfway through the series.

Admittedly, they did having a main child character and making the MC a big brother much better in Leo but in Ace it just brings the series down.

I know jack fuck about Ultraman so I might as well get into a series. Considering it's subbed, which series would you recommend? (I don't know moonrunes so I'm pretty much stuck with subs until I learn)

My general preference would be Action > Suit > Story > Soundtrack > anything else

A purely speed based form is too situational.

The whole speed-strength thing Tiga had for its forms renders speed mostly unused as compared to his red form since anything that doesn't need the speed to deal with can be punched to death with pure strength.

Dyna having elemental abilities and such on his blue form makes all his forms have uses in a good variety of situation.
