You mean 8 40-50 minute episodes. There are plenty of movies with a shorter run time that develop and flesh out their characters. BGC has no excuse for not doing so.

While we may have not had much time with the girls in 2032, they were a hell of a lot better as they were established than what we got in 2040.

Can we agree that the length of both OAV / Series require different way of developing character ?
I happen to like both, even if that's not allowed on /m/.

I like the OAV because it depict a badass team of women that just is. The motivation of each didn't matter, they only had to not look out of place with the rest of the setting.
I like the series because it depict a different badass team of women, since the series is longer not looking out of place meant giving them a prior motivation.


I liked and disliked things with the 2040 series (Priss & the plot), same for the OAV (Nene & the suit design)

Most of the sane of us can at least appreciate them both for different reasons. They're not the same show they're not trying to be the same show. Of all the things 2040 did right, not Aping the 80s show but now 90s! was the wisest one.

Im a hardcore 2040 fag (Priss being my favorite anime gal since, well forever, it was my entry anime alongside Iria) but I still love to pop in an OVA episode and backed the kickstarter day one..well day 3 really but I was without internet for a period.

2040 made me watch the original, the original in turn made me watch blade runner, which in turn made me watch like at least two other alternate cuts and then I decided to just read the book.

If nothing else I think we can certainly all agree that THIS is the common enemy.
