There's a Zaku thread, let's have another GM thread.
Question for the visor appreciators in the audience: on your GM variants, do you prefer the traditional square jaw as seen on the Cold Districts and Type C and Powered, or do you prefer something that throws the traditional face out and takes only the visor, as seen on the GM Command and Sniper 2, and GM Custom?
As far as heads go, Command/Cold > C > Custom > Ground = Powered > 3 > Early >>>>>>> Space/2
If just the head:
Sniper 2 > Custom > Cold > Command > Powered > 3 > C > Ground > 2 > 1
As for the actual suits, I'm quite partial the GM III, which feels like a genuine evolution of the GM, rather than just a plain upgrade like the II. It's beefy, but still a pure mass-production suit, unlike some of the more unique ones like the Powered and the Command. And as a Jegan/Jesta fan, the Custom is basically the proto-Jesta, so it ranks pretty high in my book as well.
Standing by in thread to be educated on GMs.
I really like the Cannon's design. But not the Cannon II's design. I guess making it more symmetrical didn't appeal to me. Also really like the Command as well.Unfortunately I've been unable to see or read any UC. So all I know comes from the 3 Gundam games I've played and what I've read on the wiki, which I hear is a completely garbage source of information. But I do like the designs of the GMs and their derivatives over the Zakus and their derivatives.
>>11808324
Why haven't you watched/read anything UC?
>>11808865
I have the down/upload rate equivalent of a dial up internet connection. It's either this or no internet at all, nothing else is available here.
>>11808893
order some dvds then you cheap cunt
GM Sniper II is best GM.
>>11809645
Why did it lose to some Kampfer then?
>>11809888
Because only cure for Kämpfer is Alex.
The greatest model kit box artwork ever created. Almost 2 decades ago, it ignited my /m/ spirit which has lasted to this day.
By the way, anybody has this image or the GM Command Space artwork in higher resolution?
>>11806598
>There's a Zaku thread, let's have another GM thread.
fucking feddie faggots, fuck off you gravity loving shitheads.
>>11809888
Antagonism syndrome (aka bad luck in this case). The pilot took a long time to give the final blow. But this MS will always remain in our /m/emmories.
>>11809888
because plothax and some preachy nonsense about not playing Gunpla the right way or some shit.
>>11809966
no but heres the manual.
>>11810076
Thunderbolt GM a best, really wish I had the cash for the HG.
I wish that Bandai would give the GM line more mastergrade love. God knows we got enough Astray shit and zaku variations
>>11810084
Why did the Federation redesign the shield? Why does the Federation have 3 different shield designs anyways?
>>11810588
I dunno.
>>11810588
>>11810614
Maybe they had lots of resources to go around.
>>11810137
Master Grade Jegan first motherfucker.
>>11810614
The smaller ground type shield was probably designed with ease of use and solid rounds in mind, the bigger ones to offer more cover in space and the curved ones probably had beam dissipation in mind.
Just wild guesses.
>>11810636
The smaller shields used by the Ground Gundams and GMs double as a single-leg stand for the 180mm cannon.
I had a picture, but can't find it.
>>11809266
Holy fucking shit, anon, are you trying to bankrupt him? The first collection of Zeta Gundam runs for $800 on Amazon.
>>11810636
From quick glance,
>>11810614
The smaller type aims for lighter weight under gravity. Spikes on the end (including the gryps one) are meant as melee option.
>>11810621
RX type are as you all know with weapon mounts with slide handle and mount, and the curve shield there indeed is for higher resistance against solids and beam (it has beam coating). Called and known as the command shield for its higher cost in production thus less common.
>>11810673
It's my computer's lock screen picture.
>>11810726
Yeah, I was looking for something like that. The cannon isn't actually supported by the shield though, but it pretty much looks like that, except with a small rod connecting the end of the shield to the barrel.
>>11810737
>>11810726
or you know...
>>11808268
I thought jims were monoeye beneath the visor?
>>11810737
Oh shit, sorry anon. I failed you. I just remembered it looking similar to what you described. I let you down. I let you all down.
>>11810747
>Jims
>implying monoeyes like zeeks
What the FUCK are you smoking, son.
>>11810757
>>11810757
>Sir we're still the good guys, right?
>Of course we are son, we're the federations finest!
>Yeah, but we're using suits that are like 100% zeon inspired, we wear all black uniforms, and right now we're flying to drop a colony that we've already gassed onto earth so that we can gas it with the gas we stored in the colony
>Son you forgot about how we were going to shoot it with our death laser afterwards to ignite the gas and burn off the atmosphere
>Sorry sir, I won't make that mistake again
>>11810747
Not all, some are dual eyes, some are mono eyes.
IIRC GM Commands and Jegans are monoeyes.
>>11810757
>being this uninformed
>>11810744
>>11810726
They gave a pretty stupid reason why the Ground GM can't use the 180mm cannon, despite the Ground GM and Gundam sharing so many parts.
>>11810828
What was it? It couldn't lift?
>>11810893
Something about structural differences being unable to handle the recoil.
>>11810828
Why not?
Paging ANT... for translation of the article in this page scan concerning the 180mm cannon.
>>11810901
Mostly because the Ground models are supposed to be very similar, using the same armor materials, frame, electronics, etc. Then they contradict themselves saying that they can't use the cannon because reasons. Made even worse because the Ground GM is based off the Ground Gundam, it would be like saying a Super Hornet can't use this same missile system that a Legacy Hornet can because.
>>11810901
It doesn't say much, aside from that it has been designed to be able to be hand carried by "all" MSes.
HOWEVER this might be referring to the collapse form and not when firing. On the other hand, I have never heard this GM can't cannon thing before.
>>11810911
I understand that Gundam materials contradict one another all the fucking time that it's not even funny.
>>11810747
yknow, no gundam dub has said 'jim' ever, and we're speaking English here.
>>11810911
>>11810918
As I understand it, the Ground GM isn't based off the Ground Gundams, but were parallel developments. They're very close to each other in design, it's just that the Ground Gundams are stopgap units produced from spare Project V parts, while the Ground GMs were constructed from newly produced GM parts. They should be and are very similar in capability and structure.
Well, I was hoping more for a source than anything else.
Then again I'm not sure if I ever recall seeing a Ground GM in the show firing a 180mm cannon, it was usually either a machine gun, bazooka, or beam rifle.
Attack on GMtan
>>11810962
>GM-tan
posting best GM;_;
>>11810635
I'd buy that shit in a heartbeat. I'd do awful things to a japanese businessman to get a MG ECOAS Jegan also
>>11810614
>>11810614
The funny thing is the ground type had three other types, one with claws that remind me of gundam banshees, ez8s even heavier armored then the second pictured and another with half of a normal shield added on top of it.
Granted it was meant to reduce weight, and help allow better close combat first shield second.
>>11808268
>Vulcan rounds being loaded perpendicularly to the vulcan cannons
What is this I don't even
>>11810901
BTW anyone have any good clean or close up pics of 170mm from unicorn?
>>11811078
But that's not Stark Jegan.
>>11811320
Because you can have feed chutes bend and curve from ammo barrel into the gun itself.
Why have 60mm vulcans, I don't now when 30~35mm is just as fine if not better for CIWS.
>>11811320
its a chain of rounds so long as the feed helps it load in the proper direction as it gets pulled into the gun it should be fine. Although I doubt thats the proper gm configuration as I remember seeing a box canister for vulcans being placed in the head before.
>>11811320
>>11811371
>>11811398
Ehh, blame the fanartist.
So how does everyone pronounce the name GM?
I say "jeem"
>>11811454
jim
>>11811479
This.
GM Head
>>11811454
Can-none-fawd-ur
>>11811454
G-M for me
What other machines outside of gundam do you guys think that could be considered honorary GMs, well besides the Ideon? I would say the Omega boost is one.
>>11811454
jim, also am I the only one surprised that vulcans haven't been replaced by beam spray or some other low powered beam tech? I know beginning gundam had it but youd think it be cheaper and more powerful in late uc to start going that route.
Vulcans were to weak to really do much unless its air craft, none heavy armor targets and visors but at least the beam coating could get eaten up if replaced by the beam vulcans.
>>11811493
>>11811511
I think the vulcan's primary purpose was never for other mobile suits but rather anti-personnel, aircraft (though that's doubtful with how damn tough aircraft are in gundam), or even as a sort of point defense system (which they have been used for)
For those tasks I'm sure it manages fine so they've just never changed it
>>11811484
Weren't the Ground Gundams just tuned up Jims with Gundam heads anyway?
>>11811493
GIVE US YOUR COURAGE
>>11811511
Other suits had it like the Dom's beam scattering gun, but it was kinda useless.
Beam vulcans aren't really that common because of problems with GM's economy reactor supplying enough electricity and minovsky particles. Also, it's nice to have conventional arms as a secondary to rely on if the main armament are already beam weapons.
>>11811531
That last part is kind of why I thought that a lot of mid-late UC models feature a couple of missiles in odd not-main-weapon places. Take care of i-fields and anti beam coating and anti beam smoke
Beam weapons are fine but -just in case- we put 4 missiles in your shield
>>11811493
Well not really uc era strike dagger, slaughter dagger, daughtress, Leo kinda sorta, nobusshi, etc
>>11810797
Heh.
Gundam equivalent of this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hn1VxaMEjRU
>>11811528
not really, ground gundams and ground gms are made up of all left over gundam parts, with ground gundam having the better parts or most left over parts and the gm ground having the lesser. Its why everything was interchangeable as well. Parachute packs, to weapons racks, beam rifles and up. Its why gm head and EZ8 came around not enough spare parts to service them and by that time the first early mp gms were being worked on.
Remember the gm from the start of 08th ms team in space? Kind of looks like a GM type c, it's a gm type E or gm early type. From what I understand they reworked the family tree from being Rx-78-2 to rgm-79 to Rx-78-2 to ground gm and gm early type, both bringing data for the rgm-79 while further cutting costs.
>>11811574
the gm vulcans are creating a optical allusion for me, the shading makes it looke like it shoots towards its back side
>>11811618
Damn it, anon. How am I supposed to unsee that now?
Does this count for the GM thread?
>>11811618
You're a horrible person.
>>11811618
>>11811738
I guess its still better then ground gundam tit vulcan at least it can aim at rear incoming missiles
>>11811618
It's actually off. That cylinder shouldn't have that highlight around the edge. The highlight would most likely be inside the barrel. The angle is a bit off as well, making it look like it's facing at an outward angle than straight
>>11810702
You're kidding me! Holy shit, I know what I'm hawking the next time I need cash.
>>11811493
>What other machines outside of gundam do you guys think that could be considered honorary GMs?
Definitely this dude.
>>11811493
Also, probably the Phantoma from Zone of the Enders.
>>11806598
I prefer my GM's to have Gundam heads.
>>11811454
General Motors
>>11811511
Vulcans are inconsistent. For the most part, they just seem to be for small fighters like planes and anti-personnel. They are also used to take out enemy cameras.
Then you get scenes like in CCA where Amuro outright destroys a Geara Doga with his vulcans.
Greetings and all hail the earth elite fellow GMs. After long day of enjoying the gravity of earth and shooting heroic zaku scum with my mega particle beams, I was wondering if there are any further plans to attack those dirty Zeeks so that I may join along as I hate them so much and love gravity like you guys which in no way weighs down our souls.
>>11811454
Come on /m/. It's pronounced GeMu.
Post tacticool GMs from Unicorn and other sources!
>>11811371
Considering that mobile suits are largely intended for use in space and your rounds therefore don't lose kinetic energy with range and also because greater rate of fire increases hit probability even 30mm is probably overdoing it. 20mm would probably be more than adequate.
I blame tomino for not actually knowing anything about weapons.
>>11812131
For all we know the Nu has ridiculously large bullets in his vulcans.
>>11810813
>IIRC GM Commands and Jegans are monoeyes.
They are. Thank Izubuchi for that little inconsistency, his 0080 designs share a lot with his Patlabor designs and all visors are monoeyes in that.
>>11811999
guess the Zeeks couldn't afFORD the best.
>>11811528
Ground gundams were made of leftover project V parts (Not just the gundam, guntank, and guncannon, but all of project V prototypes) slapped onto a newly built frame with limiters on it all to make the parts work together which actually gimps its performance a bit.
The Ground GMs were the EF going, oh hey, these gundams actually work, lets make some more. So they retooled the design a bit and manufactured a bunch of brand new parts to go onto the frame that are actually made to work together without limiters. As a result the Ground GM actually have slightly better performance than the ground gundams do.
>>11810813
I thought they got retconned to having eyes under the visor?
>>11812457
It depends on the specific model of GM. Stuff like the original and Type C have multiple cameras and sensors. Stuff like the Command has a main mono eye camera.
>>11812457
Like I said, some have single eyes, some have twin eyes. Depends on the model. Izubuchi likes mono eyes behind visors. Other machines like the vanilla GM have twin eyes behind the visor.
And then sometimes you get mechanical diagrams showing a whole whack of sensor systems behind the visor.
>>11812457
>GM Command
>The same as regular GMs
So /m/, which one is the best: Mint flavored GMs or Vanilla flavored GMs?
>OP makes a GM thread
>no one replies
And that's why Zakus are better.
>>11812476
Mint. They knew it was superior that's why Jegans come in mint.
>>11812477
to busy fapping to gms, talk about gms later
>>11812476
Generally mint, but I quite like the GM Command Space Type's extremely bright white.

>>11812477

>>11811811
I don't see why not. They may not be GMs in the strictest sense, but they take a lot of design cues from them, such as a lack of V-fins and sporting a visor instead of dual optics.
Certainly more GM-like than Wagtail II, that's for sure. Ungrateful bastard had so much work done to him he eventually up and discarded his RGM model number!
>no love for the Nero
i swear there is some conspiracy about keeping the Federation from having mean looking MS.
