For those of you just joining us, please read this guide. Please read it before asking questions as there is a chance it has already been answered there.

For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

Who /spacepack/ here?
>>
>>11759807

I like it more than the atmospheric pac at least
>>
>>11759807
purple reflector pack is better.
>>
>>11759807
You know it.
Now I just need to actually get caught up on G-reco
>>
>>11759807
It's coming. Eventually. I'm getting it almost just for the shield and to add that core fighter to my collection.

Since the stand connector is on the pack itself rather than in the G-self's crotch, I think we can do some pretty fun modding stuff with that backpack.
>>
>>11759824
that and the NotHuckebeinBoxerFrame
>>
>>11759824
Obviously
>>11759807
I spacepack, but I wonder if you can put the packs on the Arcane. They are both G's after all

>>
>>11759833
>I wonder if you can put the packs on the Arcane
Can't in-universe, but I'm sure you can fit the ones that don't wrap around the G-Self just fine.
>>
>>11759832
that thing was fucking stupid.

>no on-board weapons
>cant use handheld weapons
>armor in the wrong places
>engines pointed in the wrong direction
>does nothing but sit in the hanger then jump around on its own

why did they think this was a good idea? why do they keep slapping on new armor packs that they dont even know will work with no input from the pilot?

>hey there are 2 teams of airborne high mobility MS heading our way, better slap on a huge hulking armor pack with no ranged weapons
>oh btw it will take half an episode to calibrate and you'll need to get out to actually punch or kick things

kit unbought so fast.
>>
>>11759833
>but I wonder if you can put the packs on the Arcane.
You could with a very minor bit of modding. The G-Self's rear torso has two parts: the inner part has 2 holes for the now standardized backpack attachments for GBF stuff, and another piece covers it up to give the G-Self it's single-slot attachment point. The G-Arcane has the standard 2 hole attachment point on part A1 12, so just place G-Self's back piece onto the Arcane (may need to shave off some of the sides), then attach the G-self specific backpacks on top of that.
>>
>>11759855
Really? Thanks I didn't know that. I will definitely do that now though.
>>
>>11759843
oh and the DBZ-tier fight scenes didnt help any either, even if they did look gorgeous.
>>
>>11759843
I keep falling behind on G-Reco and Kamen Rider Drive, for some reason.
No problems keeping current with GBFT and ToQGer, though.

Firstly, wrong thread topic, but whatever

>why do they keep slapping on new armor packs that they dont even know will work with no input from the pilot?
Because they had been working on attaching the high torque pack before they knew wuxia were attacking. Remember, the Amerians are trying to figure out how these Rose of Hermes blueprints. While they need Bellri to test them, it's clear to the Amerians that Bellri's only there to spy on them, so as amicable as they treat each other, they're keeping their own interests in mind first.

>that thing was fucking stupid.
It tanked beam rifle shots. With no beam shield. In UC. That alone should tell you something.

>kit unbought so fast.
Well, there's no kit of it in future release schedules.
>>
>>11759872
That looks sillier than the Core Fighter on the front of the G Armor.
>>
>>11759879
G-Self has already been shown to deflect beams in a number of different ways on its own.

Different anon, but I just putting the Ez-ARMS on the GSelf and part of the back collar is in the way. Also putting the G-Self's rear torso on the Arcane doesn't go in all the way, but if you want to mod the parts then it should be able.
>>
>>11759893
>it rotated the image

4chan pls

You should still be able to see what I'm talking about though.
>>
>>11759886
only by application of its beam sabers, though, or through the reflector pack. The High Torque pack deflects beam rifle shots straight on its (photon?) armor.

Same anon.

Actually you don't need anything special to mount the Atmospheric backpack on the Arcane.
>>
>>11759914
The tab holes do look similar, but are they the same? I wouldn't put it past them to make the dimensions slightly different.
>>
>>11758995
There is really little comparison between the Technique Impossible
EVAs and the PG. The Technique Impossible Eva kits are perhaps the
most complicated and sophisticated models ever made, even moreso than any Gundam PG. The TI EVA kits
feature an entire internal armature of a complexity I have never seen
before in a for sale kit. As an example I believe there are something
like 50 pieces used for the construction of the spine/neck alone. The
internal structure has clavicles, a multiply ball jointed spine with
a limiter built in to keep the torso from twisting too far without
the appropriate downward bend to the spine.

Over all of this you than add a latex rubber skin, and then affix the
armor over the skin.

Visually, the most notable difference between the two kits are the
fact that the TI kits are a bit smaller than the PG, and more
strikingly you notice that while the PG is based on the static line
art, the TI kits are based on the lankier "angry" EVAs as they appear
in combat in the anime.

All in all, The Technique Impossible EVA kits are by far the most
complicated and technically impressive models I have ever seen
outside of a stop-motion armature. Back when I liked EVA, I started
building one of them (I bought them all as well as the PG), and never
completed it due to getting fed up with the series before finishing
the monster.

Good luck finding one for a reasonable price though.

That's a little disappointing. But the crouching snipe is still a nice pose.

One more question. Is the gimmick knee specific to the zaku 1 leg, or could I pop it on any old zaku? I'm planning a kit bash.

Bummer.

Really can't wait to finish the strike pack and slap it on along with the edgie 9000 arm blade weapons.

Has anyone here tried liquid masking? Cause I would rather paint the gold on my sinanju then use stickers and I think liquid mask might be way to go.
>>

Man, just use a thin brush and clean off the excess with a q-tip. People make this way more elaborate than it should be.
>>
>>11760544
Do a reverse wash. Paint the piece gold then do a enamel wash over the piece in blade to paint the recessed areas, then use a qtip wetter with enamel thinner to scrub off any excess enamel. Obviously put on a lacquer clear coat between the gold and black wash.

Highly highly recommended. It can pull off the layer beneath when you remove the mask otherwise. Never had it happen to me on a big scale, primer really helps keep the masked paint down.

Also go find something which can thin the liquid mask you wish to use. Getting a favourite paintbrush all globbed up is just saddening.

Thanks for the tip.

Either I am just shit with masking tape, or I keep getting shit masking tape. Even with pressing edges down with finger nails and what not, things still seep. Worse with hand paint, still small seeps with spray. I mean it's down to the awkward surfaces, but I'd hardly need to mask if the surface was easy to work with...

That's one of the reasons why I really liked anon's Ex-S entry with the two tone blue.

4 RG Destiny

Also at one point they fight Dozle Zabi who is green...

I'm a newfag to model kits, but I get burned out on video games pretty easily. I have Pokemon right next to me but I can't really be bothered to play it. I get that with extensive builds. If I spend too much time in a session, I generally put it off to the side for later.

Though tonight... Tonight I get to start on Shin Matsu's Hi-Mo Zaku 2.0. Stoked.

HG G-self's arm. Its arm has a full inner frame, which is fantastic, but its humerus bone/frame is at a back-bent angle to the radius/ulna. It's the armor on top that forces it into a 90-degree bend, and that can be fairly easily rectified.

It's like the suit gains flexibility/mobility as it loses more and more of its photon armor...
>>

It's more of a punch in the face when they've gone through all that trouble and tech just to hollow out the vents in the face, but not the larger chest vents.
>>
>>11762130

stripping is almost always better than sanding if you are completely removing paint of whatever kind. This is only true if you test pieces and make sure you know how your parts will react, but it's much less labor intensive and you don't run the risk of rounding off parts or killing details.
>>
>>11762180
I was more confused than mad about it
I guess it was because of the led gimmick and not wanting it to shine through the vents
honestly I wish they had not done the psychoframe and had just dedicated more effort to the rest of the kit

>Separate clear piece for forehead sniping camera
>Multiple different hands for posing that use a peg to secure the weapon to them on the trigger finger ones

You guys sound spoiled on modern kits. GM Sniper II is a pretty damn nice kit all around.
>>
>>11762210
I didn't say it feels ancient or anything, just that it feels dated. The lack of articulation on the elbows on this kind of kit REALLY hurts it. It'd be like if the God or Shining Gundams didn't have well articulated limbs.

Overall it is a nice kit, just those elbows are killin me. I might have to pick up a second just to custom mod those elbows to give them more articulation and make it so it can do the cover-art pose.

And that has nothing to do with the elbows. And while not exactly the same, you can get the arms into a similar pose.
>>
>>11762280
>>11762286
I wonder if it'd be possible to modify it to use double-jointed elbows from the other GM kits.
>>
>>11762280
>>11762286
Yea, this is the pose mine is in currently.

It just needs a bit more articulation so I can bring the sniper rifle up to the the eye and articulate the neck and waist a bit more.

Bought myself the GM Sniper II and Mk II + Flying Armor for my first kits. I realize I probably should have asked around for general tips. I've read the guide and have the tools, not planning on painting. Did I make a good pick?

Oi... why does it have to be so busy today? You think ringing up people and informing them to order in advance since we're moving and will be closed would have helped. Instead, they ignore it and place "urgent" orders. Fml.

Anyways. What do I get to look forward tonight with Shin's Hi-Mo Zaku 2.0? Any weird joints or issues to worry about?

But that's how the kit is. Because it has such a high chest, it looks all the more derpy when looking straight or worse, up because the neck isn't all that pretty. That shot is only about 90% chin down, as well as being shot from lower than chest level looking up to suggest scale.

The only instances where whole head looks good is side turn or Gundam Evolve Omega cover/MG Z3 cover pose. Other than that, it's hard not to have chin down in stand-by pose.

And I like head down poses. It's just more prominent on the Z3 because of the way its designed.

Building the Blue Destiny Unit 1 right now and I gotta say, I really wish it had red and blue colored thrusters. The stickers are... sad to say the least.

But everything else thus far is really great. I know there's a BD unit 2 but is there a BD unit 3?

The shield is the main piece I was wondering about. I might have to get the other 2 BD units now. Do the other two come with EXAM eye pieces? I'm a little sad this one only has a sticker over the cool visor, I'll have to paint the clear piece later. Anyone know what clear paint is the best for it? Need something a little redder than the Beam Saber kind.

cutters are cutters, just get something from a hobby or craft store. they cut plastic. that's all you need since you sand on use a hobby knife to remove the nub. ANYthing work for cutting part off the runner.

Any suggestions? It needs to be cheap.
>>

Kinda hard if you're after quality. It's something you invest in, not throwaway.

Disclaimer : too poor to afford anything decent.

What can I use as a substitute for a cutting mat?
>>
>>11762608
I practiced painting on it, and am using it to practice modifying parts.

I was it in the store and thought "yeah, no, I don't care if I fuck this up. It's only $15".

As far as I'm concerned it's destroyed, if I do anything useful with it in going to turn it into a red cliff... And keep cutting up parts of it.

This. Most of us have something that's shameful. However we're not all attention whores about it going "Oh yea, well I made a thing. What thing? I won't say! GUESS FOR MY AMUSEMENT!"

Back to actually Gunpla related though, does the 00 Seven Sword use 4 LEDs? And if so can I wire them all together or do I have to turn each one on and off manually? Also is there a visible switch that's easily accessible? Lastly, if I can wire them together, has anyone ever wired them all to a single action base that plugs into the wall?
>>
>>11762694
I have yes. It was for a custom.
>>11762686
I'm just replying to posts that like 12 people will see. I made one comment and people started responding, is that my fault? This clearly isn't about attention. I just know that if I spoiled it here, it would get out else where. And that's not very fun. Just ignore it.

Building the lightning saix as my first HMM kit

I would build multiple different parts, and put them aside to not be used for another 2 pages in the guide.

It just seemed like an odd order to do things

Building the tertiary accents and structure first, then putting it aside

And then building the primary structure and sticking all the other already built stuff on it

old pic but still wIP, I'm a slow builder

MG Shenlong. I'm not disappointed in the kit, nor am I disappointed with the suit itself, but it's the hands. My first MG was the Exia, with the independent thumb and index finger joints, so I was kinda stunned at the HG-style hands the Shenlong came with.
