as an add on to my own post here, if you are really new or raw, you might want to consider playing in the MAHQ lobby. The guys there are either extremely new or only play the game during the weekly lobby. Its definitely the softest organized lobby that immediately springs to mind

Played X for a good 20+ rounds on JP rooms.

it's pretty poor imo.

It's HP at 600 is poor for a 2500 and it's melee as base X is terrible. Fast startup for bazooka is excellent but it's lacks the arc that Jamil can do as a 2AB. Not practical to swap to Divider midcombo and carry on since it leaves you stationary and the delay can be long enough for your opponent to recover.

I haven't fiddled around and observed the if there's different cooldown/reload rates between the two, though some say the tracking for the beam MG for garrod's isn't great.

Overall it feels Jamil's Divider is still better.

People have issues with F-Drive being OP prior to its nerf and basically with the Drive mechanics as a whole because it's rather powerful for a comeback mechanic. Since it only can be triggered at 250 and below hp, a player who performs rather poorly initially can get a surge in overall presence and power and easily turn the game around even though he was pretty shit without it. A decent player at a somewhat comfortable level of 350~ hp can get taken down to a very dangerous range 100~ hp by the first guy to activate F-Drive. At which point he isn't able to take advantage of the Drives as much as the first guy to reach it due to low HP. Unlike Burst, Drive also doesn't carry over deaths. A player who dies without using Drive much is considered to have lost a huge advantage.

I disagree. I played at least 20 or more matches with the GX, and I think it's great.

The loss of Divider's mortar bazooka stings, but GX makes up for it with even more tools.

You get to use one mode, switch when that runs out of ammo, and then switch back. Repeat ad nauseam.

I haven't noticed any difference with the beam machine gun, and I don't use the GX (or the Divider) as melee suits.

Impulse is a much much better parts-former and doesn't come with the poor number of tools X has. Impulse's mode change also incorporates attacks into it which is excellent for comboing and overall damage dealing.

As a 2.5k, it loses in the damage race in that it doesn't have a reliable method of dealing heavy damage asides Satellite cannon which has a poor cooldown rate.

X by itself is very mediocre, and Garrod's Divider faces the same issues as Jamil's Divider only this time with lack of 2AB.

Most of the higher rated 2.5ks that are above B tier are there because of terrific self-defence, plenty of good tools and access to combos and tools that ensure high damage reliably. X and by extension, Jamil's X Divider, are not those suits.

I have almost 1000 games in but I'm still a complete scrub (25% win ratio)

My IRL friends are all in the dustloop lobbies so I find it harder to improve myself when playing against them.

Sure. My impressions are based on my experience and the general sentiments I've noticed in Skype chats/twitter/dustloop:

GA mina: very solid suit. Everything that 2k gold frame wishes it could be. Good melee, vastly improved csa, and neat new tricks like a counter. If you like the frame play style (poke around and commit with colloid when the guy isn't looking) you should do well with this suit. Can be played front or back, but I would play it back kinda like a deathscythe type deal.

GX: very mixed. Some people deem to think it's awesome and some are me on it. Regular for has good tools, bazooka in particular is quite good, but satellite had a long charge time. Divider does not have jamils insane tracking and loses the ability to arc his bazooka. You can do some tricky stuff with swapping forms and using the x dividers ability to brake. Fun all purpose unit. Not sure if it outclassed the divider on the whole or if it's outclassed by it but it's fun nonetheless. Also shut up garrod

Okay, I just logged like 30 straight games as GX, ill elaborate on my last post:

The GX Divider notably differs from Jamils Divider in 2 ways:

1. GX cannot bazooka in Divider form, as that button is used to transform. This is a big loss, as the arc bazooka was an important weapon that also allows Jamils Divider to brake cancel

2. [Unverified, based on my opinion] Garrod seems to have slightly less tracking and slightly less damage on his main MG. Harmonica blade seems almost identical, but MAY (not sure) reload a half second slower. In general, tracking and damage are still quite good.

As for the GX form, you've got a 3 shot zooka that reloads quickly with good tracking and low startup, standard 8 shot BR, and the satellite. Melee seems unremarkable. Both GX and Divider forms retain Jamil's csB and can use it once per match. GX feels very fast and maneuverable for a 2.5k, but is squishy at 600 hp only. GX form ammo replenishes while you are in divider form.

Satellite Cannon seems to hit for 300+ damage. Slow reload. Same burst attack as Jamil.

I would say (for now, until I or someone else can test more) yes. The reason brake cancelling is important is because of the way the braking interacts with the dividers movement. Using your bazooka, you can "brake" out of your slides, cutting the animation time and noticeably reducing the lag on your landings (which, in the case of dividers, just means the final slide as you run out of boost). Since the transform takes Garrods Divider out of divider form, I don't think its going to be reducing landing lag. Its possible that it may even increase it (as you are stuck in the transform animation with no boost), but this is something I need to test.

The gelgoog seems really hard to use imo. I really love Char's Gelgoog, but I just can never hit anyone with him and the charging both attacks bugs me.

Good tip in general - if your HP is low and your team bar is also low (meaning you die, you lose) it's a good idea to focus on evasion. No need to pump out three shots with BD cancel, just focus on jumping/boosting/sidestepping away. One shot if you think you can make it land, but in general back off and support your partner. I have trouble with this too and it's something I have to remind myself.

Side 7 isn't the only balanced stage, Industrial 7 and Zeta Hong Kong are also flat without major terrain changes. The newer G Gundam stage too but that place is an eyesore.

Side 7 is favoured exactly because it is balanced. It has an immediate open center, buildings placed on one side, hills on another and an elevated area that is accessible by both teams.

I'd like to point out that the people who religiously play by a tournament standard are also the ones who refuse to use anything besides WZTV, Reborns, Banshee, or Zeong. Not exactly a good model to follow.

My two cents. /m/ in general is pretty unskilled as a while though there's definitely people who know what they're doing, mostly the 40%. In general, in most games it feels as if revolve around these individuals deciding the game. And for beginners, I would honestly recommend avoiding using 1000s because they simply do not have the same boost gauge as the 2ks and above, meaning you get caught overheated plenty of times and getting punished for it. Furthermore, I feel there's a certain unfamiliarity to the suits being used and thus the suits. Primarily ranged characters like gunner, rozen and 2ks in general should stick to playing a ranged game and not rush in even if an opponent is dying. Do not rush and make yourself open, keep playing ranged and play safe. There are very few cases where such units shld move forward like say, if you're paired with a 3k who already has died once and is at half hp while you as a 2k can still afford another death.

I'm not ragging on /m/ but just tips to improve.

That's silly talk. That's just you dictating what suits others should use and wanting others to play the suits you want them to play. Competent players who stick to a good unit are good models to follow simply because they are competent and know how to punish landings, fuwa step, practise good boost consumption and also cost management, regardless of suit being used. I'm sorry, I got a little carried away. I was just really tired of making dumb mistakes and doing stupid things (which I still did in the Turn X anyways). I basically just brute forced my way through those games and that's not exactly a smart way to play.

I have horrendous tunnel vision and my teamwork isn't exactly top notch. I tend to get caught up in the moment or get frustrated which leads to me running out like a crazy person and having my team lose as a consequence, especially when i'm playing back and none of my shots are landing. I've been trying to work on my teamwork lately but I haven't really been having much luck. Oh, and i have terrible boost management. This stuff wouldn't bother me as much if I hadn't been playing since vanilla EXVS first released on the ps3.

Again, that statement is ultimately you wanting people to use the suits you'd like them to play as. I have more respect for competent players than those who dictate how others should play. Pick a suit you want to main, regardless of reason and then get good with it. That's how people improve. Again, fundamentals are the first step, followed by familiarity with tools. If anon's favourite is say Xi as a 3000 but find that WZTV's moveset is better suited to him, then so be it.

Tiers also don't show the level of mastery needed to play it. Delta Plus for one is difficult to fully master and does not handle as traditionally as other convention 2ks due to its rifle and excellent assist, but you're likely to screw up often with it before you master it and make it perform like S tier suit it is.

Not exactly. There are just certain suits you see A SHIT TON OF. Mostly beamspammy suits, which in and of itself isn't "top tier". In more serious lobbies people tend to keep more distance between themselves and their opponents, which there's nothing wrong with, it's just a safer option. So people tend to place more emphasis on suits with fast projectiles and gerobis since they're more comfortable with playing the ranged game.

There are just a ton of suits that get neglected and it's nice to see them in use. It's not that they're bad, they're just not played as often. Generally suits from less popular franchises or suits that have a complicated playstyle.
