I read Dan Simmons "Hyperion" and quite liked it. It had nice mysterious aura from many unexplained mysteries.
Then I read "The fall of the Hyperion" next book in the series. It thoroughly explained most of the characters and situations from the first book in a manner that was much more boring than just letting them be.
So not only did I found the next book mediocre at best it also ruined the previous book I had found good.
Have any of you had the experience with a sequel that was so bad it ruined the previous book(s)?
I'd like to be warned.
