The Jamaican patois takes a little while to pick up but its a pretty quick read for something so long. The title is a joke. It isn't brief and a whole lot more than 7 people get killed.

Its a great book, probably one of the best in contemporary /lit/, along the lines of Bolano and Sebald. It is also a fun crime novel.

There is some critique here of it being middlebrow, but I think his ability to write such unique characters in totally different speech patterns shows a certain mastery of prose. It could definitely be compared to genre crime fiction tho
