What's that illustration on the cover of V?

Is that supposed to be the Whole Crew?

I own all his books with the where's Wally covers except TCOL49 (some 60s stuff on it) and inherent vice with its shiny cover. I don own bleeding edge

The Frank Miller cover is aesthetic and there aren't any of the misprints people say there are so fuck you

Protip that ~aesthetic~ cover does have a few misprints, does not detract from the experience whatsoever though
>>
>>9957562
I like how V is the 5th book in the lineup.
>>
>>9959124
>>9957604
I had no idea that was done by Frank Miller, that's neat. Apparently he was asked for, by name, by Pynchon? Neato.

Name one and I'll take a photo to prove it doesn't.

Against the day, GR, V, Vineland and two copies of TCOL49. Planning to get Mason & Dixon once I finish GR, just got to the Mondaugen part in part 3. Not sure if I should read Against the day or Mason & Dixon next though.
>>
>>9959850

>>
Is pynchon popular in your country?
>>
>>9959471
it was random tbqh
>>
>>9961065
Nope
>>
>>9960605
Mason & Dixon is the one that most people place above Against the Day in quality
>>
>>9956472
why do "people" even bother reading pynchon translated?
>>
>>9962046
because it's possible
because it's hard to get physical copy of the original book in Poland. I don't want to pay 50$ for shipping

ps. I know what I am losing while reading translations, but for now - I just want to know Pynchon and understand main ideas, not only linguistic games
>>
>>9962046
also
>"people"
go fuck yourself
>>
>>9960504
Most anons have suggested starting with CoL49 and V., so you could try this one. It's his first novel, too.
>>
>>9962046
Neck yourself, autismo.
>>
I've read V when I was 19, got bored and understood nothing. Never bothered again with Pynchon.
>>
>>9962604
start again, try

Fuck off, kike lover.

Page 139-140, bottom:
"Your task, in the dreams, is often to [cross under the trees through the shadows before something hap] pens."

Whole chunk of a sentence missing that previous editions remembered to print.

Fuck you, faggot.

is that the only error? the way people here made it out to be it sounded like pages and pages of errors.
>>
>>9962722
Nah there were a bunch. I don't remember if it was goodreads or reddit or where but there was a list somewhere of all the small and large errors. There were quite a few, given that previous printings never had more than one or two little ones.
>>
>>9962722
I have both versions and have been browsing the net casually for years and no one has ever been able to actually SAY an issue other than this one.
I've also got a 2nd printing of the viking paperback, and am ready to smear the Frank Miller one into the ground if anyone actually shows me something wrong with it.
So far, nothing. Don't get the 22nd printing and you're fine. (Top is 22nd, bottom is 23rd. Never seen earlier prints)

>>
>>9962742
Yeah I'll concede to the hap] pens problem, but no one else has mentioned others. They don't exist, as far as it really matters.
>>
>>9962870
haha hehe hoho huehue!
Ya got me, you clever damn millenial!
>>
>>9960504
Anywhere, Crying -> GR is the best intro. I read Inherent Vice, then Bleeding Edge, currently reading M&D. But you can read any of them after GR, most people recommend V. and that'll probably be the next for me.
>>
>>9962984
I'm of the opinion the before the lost years books should be read together, and then the others together.

If you read Col49 and GR, read V. next. Then whatever, but probably leave AtD and M&D for later
>>
>>9962057
Check out bookdepository (free shipping), empik or some other Polish shops that have English books.

As for me, only have read CoL49 for now. Planning to buy V. or Gravity's Rainbow next.
>>
Inherent Vice & V

He's such a chore to read, no more for me hehe
>>
All sold. I read V, Crying of Lot 49, Gravity's Rainbow, Vineland, and Bleeding Edge when I was apolitical. Now I know too much to not want to beat the fuck out of him whenever he says dumb shit. Stupid lefty boomers are mainly the reason things are so fucked up now. They are no longer the counterculture. Let me guess: Mason & Dixon is 1,000 pages of abstruse historical references you have to find on an online wiki interspersed between Whitey = evil and Black Guy = dindu nuffin. I can't even do it.
>>
>>9963066
If there's a possibility, I will buy for sure. The truth is I have already found
https://krainaksiazek.pl/sklep.html?keyword=pynchon&action=search&md=products_searcher&x=0&y=0

so why not
>>
>>9963149
I also found a lot of books on bookcity.pl, but didn't order anything for now, so can't say more about the shop.
But, as much as I hate it, check out empik.com. Comparing to site you linked, you can get some cheaper, especially if you order it to empik store (if you have one near you), because then the shipping is free.
>>
>>9956472
two GRs, one M&D, all paperbacks
>>
>>9963113
it's actually pretty evenhanded
redpilled on the jesuits and protestant extremism, from what i can tell mason is a jacobite, and dixon (the one who is more sympathetic to colored people) is a goofball

I read the entirety of the Penguin and used the Weisenberger guide while doing it and I can say confidently that the Penguin edition (as long as it's the fixed version) actually has less errors than both the Bantam and the Viking. How do I know this? because the Weisenberger guide points out typographical errors in all three editions and the only errors the penguin had were errors that the others both had as well. Not to mention the countless errors that the other two had but the Penguin didn't.

Apparently this is worth like 50 bucks. It's a really fucking crazy book. I love Pinecone.
>>
>>9962669
You fucking moron lol. Holy shit. You've already been BTFO but fuck. The errors in that edition were fixed years ago. Whenever someone points this meme out it's total confirmation they haven't read the book. Like most of /lit/ I suppose, plebs.

>>
>>9963521
This is the only reason I open my mouth about it ever, because it seems that everyone has your side (including me once) - tons of errors, but can only pinpoint the single one.

I'm ready to compile a list of corrections if only the world would provide the errors!
>>
What did you guys think of bleeding edge?
>>
>>9965120
I started my adventure with Pynchon from Bleeding Edge and it was quite a mistake. Not usual conventional thriller but funny as hell.
I should have started chronologically. From V and 49.
>>
>>9965120
So edgy I'm going to bleed!
>>
AtD -> M&D -> V. -> Inherent vice-> Bleeding Edge -> TCLO49. Should i read slow lerner and then GR? I dont think i ll bother with Vineland until i need my pynchon fix after 5 years
>>
>>9956472
I own 80% of the books he's written

I've only finished one.

The shortest one.
>>
What book of his should I start with?
>>
Gdzie kupowałeś?
>>
>>9966841
Wada Ukryta, W Sieci, Vineland - Empik
V i Inherent Vice po angielsku - na wyprzedaży w bibliotece w Angers, Francja
ebooki - na libgenie
>>
>>9966482
isn't "V" the easiest?
don't start with the new ones, they're for the fans only
>>
>>9956472
I tried reading The Crying Of Lot 49, but couldn't even finish it. That's the fourth time I have done that in my life. If I tried to read him again, what would I have to read?
>>
>>9966864
M&D is solid. Rest I might agree with.
Haven't read AtD though.
