The Marxist argument is that the only divide in society is class, and that all other divides (gender, race, religion etc) are 'false consciousness' that divides the proletariat and stops them from improving their lot.

So the deranged identity politics of the left is not 'culturally Marxist' - it certainly is an aspect of leftist thought (universalism and egalitarianism), but it is mutually exclusive with a Marxist class analysis of society.

it's essentially the evolution of marxism at this point. consider who the core influences were on the original post-modernists; Hicks is right when he says that identity politics are just a shift from class to identity and it's easily identifiable how it is 'culturally marxist' as you put it. it certainly doesn't have a whole lot to do with economics but it is absolutely about separating gender, race and sexual orientation into a perceived hierarchical structure of class and pitting them against each other through class conflict in order to flatten the hierarchy. the only difference is the semantics in that rather than say bourgeois they say privileged and rather than say alienation they say oppression. Oh, and look how other marxist groups like antifa use it to push their agenda, they've integrated identity politics into the marxist doctrine perfectly

Not that guy but I have seen zizek in a video talking about how we need more thinking and less action or something along those lines while he was raving on like he does. I have frequently have seem him criticized here as going on as he does(in a way that is you know could be called radical) then finally advocating for just sitting around doing absolutely nothing.
