I enjoyed Don Quixote and A Confederacy of Dunces. I'd like to read something that fits the picaresque type most closely.
There's always candide
Journey to the end of the night is kind of like a twisted picaresque
The OG
Check out Cervantes' Rinconete y Cortadillo too.
Alexander Boldizar's The Ugly is pretty good

Tom Jones,
Gil Blas,
Guzman De Alfarache,
good soldier svejk,
definitely lazarillo de tormes, the best by far, and the original,
there are some picaresque forms in the manuscript found in saragossa. i am of the opinion that the picaresque has a diluted meaning as a genre.
quite literally roguelike, another genre for another format in which the antescedents do not appear to be cut of the same cloth. gaily i am reminded that picaro means rogue, and esque can easily be converted into "like", so the genres mingle in an extremely satisfying way, indicative of the great cycle of history repeating itself.
