If you are NEET you probably have no financial resources at your disposal, and are thus incapable of actually doing anything.

Therefore you are most likely living with your parents and online every day. You waste the day on trivial pursuits like vidya or 4chan, no different to your teenage years. You are trapped perpetually in your own immaturity.

There's no heroism to the NEET. He is not the hermit nor the outlaw making his own way in the world, shunning societal expectations. He is the coward, his solitude most probably brought about by his own anxiety and inability to function in the social sphere. He is not mentally fit for employment, therefore he opts out of society because it is the easiest and least difficult option for him to take.

He is a shut in. One day blends into the next. The past is a blur, the years indistinguishable from eachother. His life consists of insomnia and mindless consumption of online activity. He is deeply ashamed of his position in life, and his parents are probably utterly lost on how to help him, coming from another generation.

The NEET lifestyle can largely be sustained because of the internet. Therefore the only interesting aspect of the NEET is how he is going to explain away years of unemployment on his resume, and/or survive after his parents decide to no longer help provide him a living (perhaps, they will die and leave the NEET entirely isolated). As this lifestyle is largely a recent phenomenon, very few NEET's have had to face up to this.

One thing is certain, the NEET's fate is inescapable. He either suicides or tries to re-integrate into society, despite being mentally traumatised by his long-term NEETdom.

I hope I am strong enough to join you all in society some day.

A person being shit inside their house unable and/or unwilling to do anything isent no where new as you paint it to be. Since the dawn of times there are people who rather stay at home then do something.
In the old days some people usualy forced people like this out of their house, so many became social outcasts or died of exposure or needs. Still today this happen. But parents usualy love their kids, and many are willing to let their kids waste their days on the internet, reading, whatever.
Today we have a enviroment with allows more people to become and be neets, but they always were there.
