Is Stirner actually worth studying? Why or why not?
Haha le spook xd

Yes. He's heavily misrepresented, even by anarchists. I'm reading Kropotkin now and he conflates Stirner with a whole different school of thought, it's quite strange. I think it's because Stirner is so ascended.
Also, read the paper: "would the real max stirner please stand up?"
I just finished beyond good and evil, would it be overkill to read Ego and its own right after?
>>9926804
Yes, he represents the ultimate emancipation of the individual.
>>9926804
In Stirner you will find a short and powerful critique that reveals the hypocrisy and flaws of liberalism, socialism and most other ideologies.
Likewise he has some interesting views on the individual that can arguably help you live a much better and authentic life if you follow them.Plus you will understand how 90% of people who post about him misrepresent his ideas
Reasons not to read him are simply that you arent all that interested in philosophy or have heavier works that need your attention

Good posts.
The worst mistake I've seen people here do with Stirner is remove him from his context. If you really want to understand what he's saying, you have to get at least a little familiar with the Young/Left Hegelians and what they were trying to achieve, because their thoughts were what he was primarily attacking.
>>9926804
No, he mistakes the ego to be the self. Read into Hinduism if you really want to know the philosophy of the self.
>>9926804
No, not at all. There's a reason he's only a meme on /lit/ and actual literati and historians don't care for him.
>>9927942
Go away you fucking hippie
>>9927929
Definitely. I see a lot of people here and on leftist spaces that read Sterner without first having read a bit of Hegel.
>>9926804
Well he's not a real philosopher, so no.
>>9928026
What exactly do you think I should read before getting to Stirner? Like what specific concepts/works by Hegel? Not sure if I want to go through the whole Phenomenology or anything, but would Stanford be okay?
>>9928503
Read Hegel's philosophy of history
Then Feuerbach's essence of Christianity
>>9926804
Read Nietzsche. You'll get a more intelligent reading of Stirner which will actually fundamentally change your outlook on life.

This
>>9926804
not at all
>>9927349
If you were interested in philosophy then there's no chance you would ever read Stirner.
>>9926898
Can you imagine if somebody actually tried to do that chart?
Can you imagine? YOU JUST KNOW.

i never read anything about Hegel and i understand perfectly the ego and his own. its not necessary. the main theme of stirner is not historical. you are totally biased.
the ego and his own is a critic to Young hegelians and the thoughts behind them, which is something not historical.

Imagine if you as a 9 year old were to be taken seriously as a philosopher. That is Stirner.
Oke so it looks like there are two sides regarding Stirner that diametrically contradict each other but both sides have arrogant smucks acting belittling without actually giving concise arguments, those who denounce him as not worth taking seriously are especially guilty of this so that leaves only one option.posting smug Stirner memes and pretending to have read the ego and its own
