If one wanted to learn a language, not for the purposes of actually utilizing it in real life conversing with others, but for the literature that would be unlocked by doing so as well as the unique points of view unlocked by the aphorisms and grammatical structure of the language, which one would be best to learn?

I assume Latin, but maybe also French or German? Or Russian? Anyone?
