Other novels by Bolameme (aka mariachi pynchon) and the fags he namedrops all the time

I don't think I've found anything yet that wasn't dated that compared to this novel. It's one of my favourites too anon. Most novels I think that compare usually only bring with them a few elements that Bolano includes amongst others.
Cesar Aira's The Musical Brain.

Have you read Rayuela

Need a list as well. Normally I like to hop between authors rather than bog down on one, but I read 2666 and had to move onto The Savage Detectives immediately.

Rachel Kushner' The Flame Thrower and something by Zambra, another Chileno which supposedly feels like BolaƱo. He influenced a lot of their contemporary writers.

That cover is fucking incredible.
I'm about halfway through the book. It's comfy. But I feel so disconnected from the main characters. Maybe because it's almost an epistolary novel. Idk. Gonna keep going.

It balances experiments with form with story telling, style with substance, builds characters sincerely and yet allows them to disappear, as though no one character is special, yet everyone should be given our concern. I can't remember the book so well now, but the impression it left me with has shaped what I look for in current literary novels now.

I have the red one, but the original white one was top patrish
Anagrama did something right for once
The alfaguara one is fucking garbage

hmpf, I'll give a try to 2666.
Is it worth reading the English translation? I mean I know a good bit of Spanish, I'm half Puerto Rican but can't speak fluently. Reading the original would is possible but would be an effort.
