shorter version? so someone edited it? that's stupid, why would you want that?
>by anthony burgess

burgess really isn't popular enough nowadays

it is on my shelf OP. by the start of december I want to read (beside other books) chamber music, re-read dubliners, portrait and ulysses and finally, around january, start finnegans. in the last new year's eve I was reading ulysses for the first time, in the next new year's eve I want to be re-reading it.

i've only read clockwork orange. used to be my favorite book.

its good, but his other stuff is just as good. sometimes he gets boring and its not like he's really easy to read. but without a doubt every novel he wrote, which is not a small amount, is cleverly written. earthly powers is a behemoth if you ever want an challenge that hasn't been read by most people.

I've read Dubliners and the Portrait, but perhaps this 'shorter version' is still a bit ambitious having not read Ulysses...

Yeah I read clockwork a few times, once prior to learning Russian and twice after having studied it. Obviously it's so much easier if you are able to understand all the nadsat of the bat. Thanks for the recs!

but if you want Burgess on Joyce, ReJoyce has to be the only choice.
