I just marathoned the first 50 pages of this and I have to ask why you guys didn't tell me that this is literally just a poor man's In Search of Lost Times.
Her prose is more aesthetic than Proust's.

That's a good observation. Many here tend to think that Joyce overconcerned her but this is untrue. With Proust she was absolutely spellbound, however, and depressed that after him any fiction she produced would be deemed superfluous. That said, Dalloway is still a great book.
