Stoner and Rabbit aren't yuppies
>>9883924
yes ok but there's like 10 books there.
i was just hoping there'd be some kind of basic high level reason as to why they're considered yuppie.
someone could just list any random books they associate with yuppies

Stoner and Rabbit were middle Americans
>>9884357
actually every book recommended there is about middle Americans. Is Raymond carver yuppie?

Yuppies were a strictly '80s phenomenon so you're going to want to look at the literary Brat Pack. (Then the '80s died and yuppies were largely superceded by the geek dotcom entrepreneurs.)
The Yuppie Handbook - humor, out of print, I keked
American Psycho - Ellis
Story of My Life - McInerney
(Also, Bright Lights Big City, but I prefer it less)
The Bonfire of the Vanities - Tom Wolfe
Bombardiers - Po Bronson
The Secret History - Donna Tartt (not yuppies per se, but rich private college kids and one trying to fit in, who do go on to yuppiedom)
I've only read one of the stories from Tama Janowitz's collection Slaves of New York but it was well done
Recommended movies:
Risky Business
Wall Street
Metropolitan (a class higher than yuppie, but the main character is of a lower class trying to move up, the essence of yuppiedom)
Beverly Hills Cop + sequel
Working Girl
Broadcast News
Revenge of the Nerds
