Best chapters in the book. Especially if you Identify with what they're going through. I found it especially entertaining on the second read.

>tfw you love Hal's sections
>most of the first hundred pages are Hal
>"I can read IJ if it's all like this!
>rest of the book is 80 percent Ennet House.
>slug through 1100 pages of mostly Gately talking about drugs and AA/NA retards
>Gately is actually the main-est character that magically ties the book together.
Just nuke me from orbit, f a m.

the tennis academy chapters are the worst by far
the chapter where hal visits ennet house is shit though
>>9880025
Worst chapters of the book for me. I just loved the school. I actually liked the cross dresser guys too.

Off to reduce risks of prostate cancer now, as in other ways before. Good night /lit/

I love the world of tennis academy but Ennet House doesn't have any one character who is particularly engaging, too much of a menagerie and Gately doesn't really have a distinct voice; this is despite some of the deeper and more thought provoking sections on addiction and depression

a lot of ennet house is culled from real shit dfw saw and heard about when he was in a similar place, and you can tell that. so it has that going for it.
tennis academy is also based on dfw's experiences but in a much more exaggerated and fanciful manner. everyone is an insufferable caricature. that's why I think if there's ever a movie Wes Anderson should direct the tennis academy scenes
The Lenz chapters were the best get rekt
Gately is a damn hero fuck you
anything is better than wardine be cry

there is a wes anderson feel to those scenes. has he ever commented on the connection?
