Hey /lit/

I was wondering, how do you search for new books? Is there a site like rateyourmusic for books? I'm trying to expand my e-book collection.

Also are any of you familiar with Library Genesis? Do you know if it's gone for good?

goodreads or librarything

I use Goodreads, Amazon, Twitter, or ask what people at work are reading.

Is there a /lit/ equivalent to the music and film charts on rym?

Incredibly useful for quickly getting an impression of the very best of specific genres and time periods

Obviously goodreads exists, but their taste is dreadful, compared to a rym which is at least semi-patrician due to its good rating algorithm

Doesn't exist. I'd recommend picking a book on lit history instead. What you seem to expect is a RYM that has in-depth knowledge of literature from Homer through Shakespeare to DFW, but that is as unrealistic as a RYM that has in-depth knowledge of music from Perotin through Bach to Glass.

Books are much longer and typically more expensive and more inaccessible to normies and music is like 1 million times easier to pirate or listen to for free. Music is also way shorter in length. So any recommendation service for books is going to be automatically shit. I've used RYM and also found it to be shit.

Goodreads, but it sucks unless you're really into YA or homosexuality.

Goodreads is full of users who are pretty /lit/. They're easy to find if you just look at the pages for more obscure books. That way the page isn't flooded with asinine reviews.

if an author writes good book , his other books might be worth something to
