Is this book worth reading?

It is excellent. The sequel (Suspiria de Profundis) is also well worth several readings.

Part one is a pretty boring autobiography bragging about how smart and humble and good at Greek he was, but Part two is pretty good, especially the stuff about his aimless wandering in an opium daze.

I hear that Part one was rewritten later and includes too much backstory.

Is there anyway the original can be obtained instead?
