Of all Hardy's books, it bothered me most. But it's Hardy, so it's good.

Also Hardy is kind of a shit writer.
Prepare for hundreds of pages of him telling you exactly what his characters are thinking and feeling in excruciating detail.

yes, it's awesome. hardy's best book.
shouldn't read it contiguously with that leonard cohen book though otherwise it could send you over the edge.
if you haven't read hardy before you should probably start with tess or under the greenwood tree tho. not everyone likes hardy's style. of course, that makes them irredeemable plebs like >>9860643
